I had the same problem it turned out that the upper rack was not being pushed back all the way so the door was slightly ajar. If you open the door you should see a bit of water going past the seal If the door is not seating.

I don't know how old this dishwasher is but the symptom your describing sounds like the ceramic water seal on the bottom of the impeller assy but above the motor has failed. When the seal fails it allows water to run though the motor and then the bearings in the motor fail. Once water starts running though a dishwasher motor they are pretty much shot. The reason for this is that the leak starts out slow and it leaks for a long period before you ever see the water under the dishwasher. So by the time you see the leak water has been going through the pump / motor assy for weeks or months. By that time the service technicians only option is to replace the motor pump assy.
i have had mine leak (usually out of the left side) I can see it coming off the black rubber seal that ends about 2/3 of the way down the side. ( I have also replaced the inner seal around the tub- that helped as the bottom of the seal would stick to the door when closed and make a gap for water to come out) I also notice that water and moisture comes out at the top of the dishwasher (then it leaks down the side and front) I have heard of many problems with the latch...and I can push mine closed tighter but it doesnt close completely with just the latch, but enough for the wash cycle to work. also just make sure there are no crumbs or something stuck around the liner. good luck mine has been a lemon and i cant wait to get a different brand.
what is the model #?... there are 2 buttons when pushed together it will drain the water out..try the button to the left next to power scrub... and economy...hold the 2 buttons for 3 sec. you will hear you drain pump running.. if you don't hear any water draining out into your sink, you might have a clog d/w drain line.
Try running citric acid (3 tablespoons) through. You can get it from a drug store. Or, run 1/2 cup vinegar through. Do this in both the dish washer and the disposal. After doing this try running some water into the disposal and then see if the next time you run the dishwasher if it still smells. You could be having a problem with water not staying in the drain trap under your sink that is why if you run water and fill the trap, then you will find out if it was the dry trap that caused the smell from sewer gases backing up into the house trough the garbage disposal.
Hello Mimhoff it depends on how much water is down there. The sump area always has a little water in it to prevent the circulation pump seals from sticking. Usually around 1 to 2 inches. If there is more than that, check the slots at the bottom of the sump on the left side for being clogged and check the end of the drain hose to make sure it is clear. If you are getting a moldy/odor from the dishwasher, try running Dishwasher Magic or Tang thru the dishwasher. This will remove any build up of food or detergent from the dishwasher. If you are running the dishwasher every few days and just scraping your dishes, then either leave the door ajar or run the rinse & hold cycle to help keep the odor down. Bosch doesn't reccommend running bleach thru the dishwasher as this can cause damage to the rubber seals. However 2 tablespoons of bleach once a year won't hurt.
