My Nero CD Burner will read anv CD, but will not burn one

I tried reinstaling nero but that didn't help. So just out of pure luck I opened the cd door on the laptop and noticed a small green light that I figured was the laser that did the reading and burning of the CD. So I took a can of air and sprayed all the the parts on the door. Put in a CD and the burner worked like it was brand new. Now I can both read and burn a new CD. What Luck.

The cd drive aint reading blank disc

You must have the burner program (roxio or nero) identify the CD/DVD RW Drive. If the burner program didn't come with the drive at the time of purchase go to roxio or nero site and look for updates for your particular drive. If you don't have that info...look in divice manager under CD/DVD-Rom Drives and it will tell you.
Failing that...look for updates of "Firmware" at the manufacturer of your drive...
Good luck...hope this helps

some times it is the softwear u r using playing up, if so try using nero 7 as it is more user friendly then nero 8... it could also be ur burner playing up in witch case just trying holding the drive shut while it reads the disk... this can some times solve the problem....

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.
