I'm looking to connect a Marantz SR5001 to a Subwoofer, and there is currently no soundcoming through the sub.

On the SR series, you should find the setting for this in the setup menu on your remote. It will be easiest if you have a TV connected for video display. On the remote hit Amp -> Menu -> Speaker Setup -> Manual Setup. This should allow you to set the 'Subwoofer' setting to Yes. The subwoofer will need to be plugged in. If the setting cant be changed, try plugging in the Audassey microphone and run the calibration program which should detect the sub if its plugged in.

Do i need subwoofer with power or without power and how to make subwoofer sound on ??? just send me simple setup please ? cheers

Depends on your source and its amplifer complement. Some can drive a subwoofer directly while others just produce a Line Level subwoofedr output for use by a separate amp feeding a subwoofer or self-amplified sub.

The setting up of the source to produce a subwoofer output is totally dependent on its design. Generally, you have to 1) tell it you have a sub, 2) define how bass will be routed or shared among your various speakers accordingto their bass-handling capacities, 3) using test tones, set the relative ludness and crossover settings so you have a uniform sound field.

Name the electronics and get a better answer. Or refer to its manual.

On my kenwood receiver vr 707... I'm having difficulties in getting any base for subwoofer. I pluged in the "subwoofer pre-out" like it says in the manual but it seems as if there's no power...

hi,
p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }

You have to set the subwoofer setting in you system .for that do the following.

1 .For the remote control, press and hold the TUNER key for more than 3 seconds to switch to receiver mode.

  1. Press the SETUP key to enter the SETUP mode and select SETUP SYSTEM using up arrow or down arrow

  2. Select SP SETUP and press the SETUP key again so that the speaker system indication "SP SYSTEM" scrolls across the display.

  3. Press up arrow or down arrow to select OTHERS and press SETUP key

  4. press the up arrow or down arrow to select the SUBW ON and press SETUP key

exit the setup and try. Is the subwoofer is working or not

ok

The reciever is connected to my subwoofer but Im not getting anything out of my subwoofer.

You need to instruct the receiver that it has a subwoofer and then tell it if it should share the bass with other speakers. Read the manuals for both the receiver and the subwoofer. AVR's take some setting up. Subwoofers are never assumed to be installed.

How to switch on Sub?

surround and subwoofer may not work if there is an additional graphic equaliser operating.
1. check in your receiver speaker setting ensure your speaker setup doesn not have subwoofer set to NONE. this will block any signal to your subwoofer socket.
2 when you select your surround sound setting setup, ensure you select the speaker mode you want, if there is a multicontrol knob, cycle through the choices
select subwoofer mode and set it to yes.
if you have set-up small speakers S in your speaker settings then it could be that subwoofer is set to yes automatically if you have large speakers L, subwoofer has to be set additionally in the subwoofer setting.
3 test subwoofer on alternative device to test it is working ok
consult manual on enjoying surround sound and adjusting the speaker settings.

No sound from subwoofer on tuner and cd listening

If you have video running thru the receiver to your TV it's alot easier to see the menu. when hooked up to a TV press the Menu/GUI button on the Yamaha remote, when you get the on screen display choose "manual setup" and navigate to "Speaker Settings" arrow up or down to "Subwoofer" options are "LFE" "Sub" or "Both" choose "Both" and "enter/select/or ok" Now, if it still is happening, it means somehoe you have set up a user preference on those two inputs to have no sub. You have to navigate thru the menu to inputs and audio and check your settings. If you need more help, it is in the manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download it at www.yamaha.com/usa click on Home audio products then type in RX-V863 in the search box on the left. You may have to register to use their site files, however, it's free and you won't get spammed by Yamaha nor will they sell your email address. anyway, your problem is in your setup menu. Take your time and don't get frustrated! you've got a killer receiver!! Hope this helps

Subwoofer amplifier

Here's how I'd do it... connect the subwoofer pre-out to one of the unused analog inputs (CD or CD-R perhaps?). Turn on Zone 2 by pressing the MULTI-ZONE ON/OFF button. The MULTI-ZONE indicator will light.

Press CONTROL. (Zone 2 should display) Use the INPUT SELECTOR dial to select the source for the zone you have selected. In my example, CD or CD-R.

Of course, you'll need the sub hooked up to the Surround back speaker terminals.

Here's a link to the manual online:
Pioneer VSX-1018 Manual

Things to keep in mind:
The Surround Back setting must be set to ZONE 2. See page 41 of the manual.
The volume level going to the sub will probably need some tweaking. Check out page 7 to see how to manually adjust volume levels, or get it close by adjusting the Master Volume while in Zone 2 control.

I'm not sure if the auto setup function (with the included microphone) will work properly with this setup. And, of course, this is not a "suggested" setup by Pioneer, so please use caution when hooking everything up.

Good luck!

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
