It is usual for watches to have a 12 month warranty so you should be able to have it repaired free of charge.

It should be noted that the warranties are usually described as "limited", meaning they only guarantee the works and not anything like the strap or the crystal.

How do l change the battery on a Timex Chronograph, battery type CR2016 ?

Undo the screw with a pro-grade jewellers screwdriver.... or .....

Tip & How-To about Watches

Changing Watch Batteries
Lots of posters ask "what is the battery in my (name of watch)" with a view to changing it yourself. This is a bad idea for many reasons. You don't have the tools or knowledge to remove a rotary screw on back, or the gasket sealant for a waterproof watch. Some fashion watches have 4 traditional screw and need professional grade jeweler screwdrivers. Also, there are about 20 batteries commonly used in watches, in various sizes and internal technology, Lithium Ion, Silver Oxide and Manganese Alkaline. If you buy them, you generally have to buy 10!

Don't sweat the details. Just take the watch to your local jeweler. They have all the batteries at hand and the tools to remove the back. It is done whilst you wait for $8 to $15!

I have a fossil ES-1355 watch and it running slow. I installed a new battery and still running slow. Is there an adjustment I can make.

most batteries that run of a battery are controlled by a frequency crystal or electronic setting and is not adjustable
however take it to a watchmaker or jeweller as it may be adjustable using their instruments

How can I remove the back to change battery?

Yep.. unless you have a self winding one. They require a sharp jewelers tool to open.. Sometime you can do it yourself , but you chance ruining the watch with scratches. The jeweler puts the watch in a holder that protects the crown and steady the watch. He then takes a tool and inserts it in the seam of the watch back and pops the back open. After the battery is changed the back is pressed back into place by the devise that can put pressure on the back without risking cracking the crown.. Come on man it's only 8 bucks. Just remember once the back has been opened water proof can not be guaranteed anymore.

Casio g-shock protection model blank face after new battery installed by a jeweler

What kind of battery did they put in it?? G shocks are powered by a rechargeable solar battery!!! Should not have been replaced unless it was the same type of battery. I would be going back to jeweler and asking them to send your watch to Casio and they pay for the new solar battery. Let me know what happens.

I have a elgin steel PQS watch. I haven't wearn it in a year. When I took it out of my dresser it no longer was working. What should I do? How can i get it running again.

This is a solar powered watch. I have placed mine under an incandescent light over night and it has started working again. Fluorescent light will not work. It needs to be out in the light whenever possible.

Battery was replaced by a jeweler. Since that

As the jeweller is not a watchmaker, he/she even did not realise the watch is not working properly. It sounds like your watch is having jammed gear train or the jeweller did not know how to reset the watch. Go to this website: www.tissot.ch
If you will not find solution there, you will have to look for watchmakers help.

Cannot set

Every battery replacement includes watch reset as well. If it was not done properly by watchmaker, then you are eligible for full refund and even can ask to fix the watch, as it was in working order before you gave it to jeweller.
This will not solve the problem, but at least it will make you feel better.
Next time you need the battery replacement, find the nearest watchmakers shop - not the jeweller. They are usually under one roof, but the trades are completely different and no jeweller can do the watchmakers job, as this takes years of learning and training.
Do not forget to rate, please.
