Yes. Using the cds supplied by dell, boot the operating system cd. Delete the active partitions, then quick format it and proceed to reinstall windows. Once windows is installed, use the supplied application and driver cd to reinstall the applications and drivers that came originally with your computer, again following the onscreen instructions.

Need to restore my satallite L505-S5984

Unfortuneately the new computers do not come with a restore disk. You are supposed to make one when you get a new laptop. That is something most stores do not tell you. When I bought my laptop at Best Buy they tried to sell that service (making a restore disk) to me. It is just another way for the store to make money. I do not think that Toshiba will furnish this for free. You could try finding a CONTACT US link on their website and ask them. My best suggestion would be to ask around and see if someone has a laptop that is junk but still has a disk. If I knew I would not get into trouble for copyright infringment I would make one and send to you. But I really don't want to get into trouble for it!

Hi Im trying to restore my acer aspire 5742 back to factory default in windows7. I do not know how to start the process, I have the recovery discs I took them the day I bought it. Can you help please....

Hi
Please save any files or photo,s that you may have on your laptop ist

Then you could try this method without using the disks
Click Start" menu

Click Programs

Click Acer Recovery Management

Click the Restore button on the bottom of the dialog box that opens

Click Restore System to Factory Default

Click Yes in the warning dialog box which asks if you wish to continue the recovery process

Click yes Start to restore the computer to the default factory settings

Sometimes there is a default acer password which is quite often 000000 that is 6 zero's

or place the recovery disk into your cd

restart the laptop pressing F12 i believe

then follow on screen instructions

many thanks

please let us know if this has helped you so that we can hopefully help others

I CANT LOAD MY VISTA DISK im trying to re install vista home but my computer keeps looping

Hi,

If you have not changed the preinstalled OS in the computer, the recovery partition in the computer will be still intact. In that case, you can use the recovery partition to perform a system recovery. Please restart the computer and press and hold the F10 key. This will launch the recovery partition and from there, you can select "Restore C Drive" to perform a system recovery.

As you have mentioned that you are trying to perform a system recovery using the discs(which i understand is recovery discs for the computer), I suggest that you check if the Boot sequence is set to CD/DVD Drive in the BIOS and then try again.

Thanks!!!!

Restoring factory settings on a toshiba satellite ?? i was playing around with resizing the partitions and i goofed up and deleted the boot info bought a vista disk and installed windows vista. but i would...

Im not sure what exactly you have in the recovery partition ..but from what I know ..this is accessible by pressing F11 on boot ..and the info stored in it will restore the computer ..if you had vista in it before...probably will reinstall it ..so first just try to boot..and press f11 during the device displaying ..just like entering bios..and follow the instructions if it works..
another way is to install a clean operation system ...(the one that you use to have ..) by booting from cd ..(this will allow you to rearrange the partitions during install...in the moment when it sees previous OS ..and ask to choose a location for install..
after a clean install use the recovery cd that came with the laptop..
But..first try the recovery from that partition..if f11 do not work let me know and I will make some research in this matter ..

HP Pavilion A6130N setup error

Did you buy the computer new? It should have come with recovery disks, also called operations disks. I have had to do this with my hp pavilion lap top a few time over the past few years so that it would run faster. If the recovery disks aren't in there, call the company. They are always supposed to be included. I've always had good luck with hp, you might even go to hp's website. It's really good as well.
