Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

200 ARC My faithful machine running XP Pro, recently crashed and will not reboot properly. The windows logo comes on the screen for a couple of minutes and appears as if it will reboot properly, but it does not. It displays an error message "apologizing for the inconvenience stating that a new software upgrade or installation might be causing the problem" and recommends to restart normally with previously known settings. It has a 24 second countdown to restart and when it does the windows logo appears and after a couple of minutes, it reverts back to the error message and repeats the process all over without ever rebooting properly. I have not installed any new software nor have done any recent updates.

Try and use it in 'safe mode' by pressing F8 in advanced startup options.

Then do the system restore.

Sorry if it dosen't help but i can't really reply in fully on a forum.

Toshiba Satellite Pro P35-S605 beeps upon power up then crashes and reboots.

Can you get into Safe Mode? I suspect your configuration needs tweeking.

Also I would immediately go into the Bios and make the boot order be CD, HD.. etc. Also make note of any hidden partitions such as H, or K. Those sometimes house a mirror of the factory version of XP... like when it was new.

Good luck

You might have some viruses and malware.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

You would probly want to completely reformat and reinstall your copy of XP, if it is already crashing on a fresh copy, it most likely didn't install correctly. Make sure you format first. You can do this before you run your installation. Reboot your computer and hit f8, select the option that says command prompt with networking. when the screen comes up with the C: type in there vol you will need the volume label to format, it will display this for you and make a note of it. At the next C: type in there C: format it will ask you to enter the volume label, do this and hit enter. It will then ask you if you are sure you want to delete all data, type y and hit enter. It will go through the format process. Enter your XP cd into the drive and reboot your computer, you should now be able to reinstall windows with no previous errors or versions already installed. Hope this helps!

Toshiba satellite p25 s509 lapto video output problem im using a

What type of Video Card in in the laptop?
check the laptop case on left side of keyboard sometimes stickes are there saying what type.
I have seen ATI Mobility cards in laptops that have all the software working on the machine properly, but the display driver is either bad and cirrupt and causes the machine to reboot, or its a fualty video card that can cause the machine to crash.

Easy way to check, boot the machine and as windows XP boots press the F8 key (this enters safe mode) when menu appears choose safe mode with networking. and let it continue.
if it boots up and continues to a display and doesn't crash, the video driver is bad.
then just uninstall the video driver, then go to the nabufacturers website and download a new video driver for your model laptop.

Computer wont startup it cycles and repeats sony vaio pcv rx560

hi radarguy,

There several possible reasons why your computer reboot after getting to the windows screen. one is a corrupt or incompatible driver that was installed on your system, try to boot on safe mode(press F8 during the POST(power on self test) for newer computer this will come as a flash on your screen, when you are being prompted how to you want to start windows just the safe mode then check if your computer will start up properly if it is then a driver or an application may have cause the boot problem try to perform a system restore and put the state back when it was working properly you can check out this link if your problem will fall on one of the following problem http://www.aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm
.
Now if safe modem will not fix the problem, the boot.ini maybe corrupted, check this link on how to re-install/fix corrupted boot.ini http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330184 this process requires your Windows installation CD.

Hope this will help you solve your start up problem with your computer.
