Try finding a wireless switch. if you cant find it on any side of the laptop, then check the keyboard for a key indicating wireless. On most laptops you press that key in combination with another one labeled fn in blue
I think you may be right about this one, There seem to be quite a few distressed Evesham owners out there,
you are correct in that to remove the keyboard you would normally remove the facia above the keyboard, but as I have no direct experience on this laptop I cannot tell you exactly how, although on a few models they include the hinge arches on the facis, and sometimes there is a securing screw on the back of the hinge arches.
Good luck my friend as I fear that a service manual may be difficult to find,
