Iomega was very nice about replacing the external hard drive 500 GB.. I downloaded my stuff from the system to there and it immediately died again. Support staff hung up on me. Don't blame them as I wasn't too pleasant, but what gives?

You too;
If you are still under warranty contact Seagate and they will replace it. As for getting your informaiton, you must take it to a local computer store and get them to do iit for you. It's fairly expensive--$100 or more, depending on what you have on it, the more information you have on the disc raises the cost of Data Recovery.
If it is under warranty and you open it up yourself, you will have nullified the warranty. Only professionals are supposed to do this.
They opened mine and found the inside had been charred and would not be able to get the last 20 years of my life--I wish it would take me back to 20; that would be so cool.
I do know that Iomega is wonderful with proof of purchas, order numbers, and the rest of the usual stuff. They're sending me a new one, but when I asked about where to ship the old one back, the guy said we don't want it, it's toast.
I'll wait until the new one comes before I start checking out the old one.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
