But if you go through your computer to your internet for your exbox (a bridged connection) Your firewall could be on high and that makes you unable to match up with other people. Well hopefully this helps. If you dont have a bridged connection then idk what to tell ya. sorry.

well, the only thing that i can think of is that your old games work because you may have backeed them up to your HDD. For whatever reason, it is not reading any of the discs, but you can play the old games because the machine knows the correct disc is in the drive, and plays it straight form the hard drive. Note that this answer is based on the assumption you back your games up; you may need a new DVD drive.
Im not... so good with this but sure alrite .... maybe the Ranked matches are ... very hard to get into 1 try creating 1 or w/e so that people can join and you dont have a problem or possible some people might leave the room cause u have bad connection or something.
for you to play you have to open up the portals on your internet if you have a router go to portforward.com and select your router then go the xboxlive link then follow the setup to open up your ports then you should be able to play with everyone online
