Question about Motorola Mobility V170

1 Answer

Accidentally turned backlight off.

I accidentally turned the backlight off, now screen is totally dark, cannot see any menus so therefore can't get back into the setting to turn the light back on. I can tell the phone is turned on when I hear sound and press keys to dial, but that is only function I can use.

Great. I had to hold it up to the brightest light I could find and use quite a bit of eyestrain, but I could finally go into "Settings" and my light is shining again. Thank you so much. I'm a real believer in this website.

Totally dark? If you have the phone under a light don't you see anything on it?

you may have to take it to someone to get it reset but I'l have to check if we can do that over the internet.

your screen have been affected with water. When you accidentally drop your phone in water, DO NOT turn the phone on yet instead put the phone in a bag of rice, the rice helps to seep water. Since you turned on the phone already, there is nothing to do but get the phone repaired or replaced.

My nokia 6300 phones back light is not working correctly. The keypad light comes on and later the screen light which goes off when you press the key pad. pleas advice.

does your phone accidentally fell on a hard surface? if that is so, then, the board itself is loose thats why you have problems with the backlights. go to your nokia center and have it fixed. its just a minor repair.

Motorola V220 - no backlight

I would say it's either your screen or the flex cable that is gone. You need to get it to a qualified repair tech to deal with this issue. These motorola v220 phones are nice little phones but very troublesome.

No backlight

A couple things to try:

1st check the backlight settings

Turn on Backlighting and Control Brightness To use your device in dark environments, enable the automatic backlighting feature:
  1. From the Jump screen, press MENU t02003-15.gif then select Settings > Battery & Display.

  2. In the second group box, select the Turn on backlight when using device check box.

  3. Highlight, then select the Brightness slider to open it for editing. Roll the TRACKBALL right to increase brightness; roll the TRACKBALL left to decrease brightness. After you've made the adjustment, press the TRACKBALL to exit edit mode. t02007-55.jpg

  4. Select the length of time you want backlighting to stay on from the Turn off after pop-up menu.

  5. To use the device's light meter while the backlight is on, select the Use ambient light sensor check box.

  6. Press JUMP t02003-14.gif to return to the Jump screen and save your setting.
Now, when you press any button or key, or flip open the screen, backlighting will turn on for the set amount of time. Note that as long as you press a key or button before the set time elapses, the backlight will stay on.
Tips:
  • Even if you have not selected automatic backlighting, you can turn on backlighting at any time by pressing MENU t02003-15.gif + JUMP t02003-14.gif . The backlight will remain on for the time specified in the Backlight Turn off after pop-up menu.

  • When in key guard mode, you can turn on the backlight by pressing the RIGHT SHOULDER t02003-66.gif button.
If it still does not work, then you can try resetting the flex cable to the lcd.

Reseat the SidekickFlex cable

If that doesn't fix it then a new lcd assy will take care of the issue. they run about 45 dollars on ebay.

Back light

if you mean that only the backlight is not working then this may have happened when you opened the handset you didnt place all correctly ...
just open it again and near by screen there will be a pin or chip which must touch the board to get backlight ... so i think that might not be touching the board ...
so open it and make it touch the board ...
you will get the backlight...

your problem is minor one you can solve it by your self ...
this has happened due so loose conntact inside ....
