MANY UNITS NOW HAVE A ONE BUTTON CLOSE FEATURE. THIS WILL CLOSE THE DOOR WITHOUT PRESSING THE PROPER CODE.

HOWEVER, IT WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR WITHOUT THE PROPER CODE.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A REMOTE THAT WILL SEND A CODE AND CLOSE THE DOOR. IT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BE PROGRAMED TO OPEN THE DOOR. YOU CAN GET AN EXTERNAL UNIVERSAL RECIEVER IF CHAMBERLAIN OR LIFTMASTER ARE ON THE LIST THAT WOULD WORK.

HOPE THIS HELPS

You might try programming it but I think it is bad.

To program locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to your keypad and key in your 4 digit code and press enter.

Sectional Garage door won't open after wire coming off rollers - chain can't lift door. I had to take wire off to close as it had come unspun.

I WOULD SUGGEST CALLING IN A PRO.

REWINDING THE SPRING (DANGEROUS) AND FINDING OUT WHAT WENT WRONG IN THE FIRST PLACE (HARD TO DETERMINE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR).

SHOULD BE $ 60.00 TO $ 100.00

MONEY WELL SPENT

The door reopen by itself once its closed.moment later it reopen by itself it is very unreliable.

IF IT GOES BACK UP WITHIN 5 SECONDS OF CLOSING IT IS THE DOWN LIMIT.

IF MORE THAN 30 SECONDS SEE BELOW.

Anytime a door opens and/or closes by itself I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

Sears garage door opener

I just found the solution for my 'ancient' Sears garage door opener, model # 139.655000, and I figured I'd share it.

There's a separate radio module, wired to the main opener. This module is small, has a short wire/antenna, and plugs directly into an outlet.

There's a manual open/close button on this module (I didn't realize this until I got up on a ladder). This button is also a removable cover; underneath it is a "smart actuate" button -- this is your learn button.

What I did was: unplug the radio module. Pry off the cover. Plug the radio module back in. Hold down the button on the remote. Press the "smart actuate" button. This programmed my remote successfully!
