Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Sony vgns120 I have purchased two new sets of recovery cds from Sony in the last month. I have run each set at least three times with no success. I get a blue screen for a split second and the system tries to reboot. You can't read the blue screen, it is so fast. If I boot in safe mode I get a message "system not fully installed albertsonphoto@yahoo.com.

Doesn't sound good.

Run memtest on it to test your memory (ram)
http://www.memtest.org/

It may be a hardware fault or just that the recovery cds aren't getting the job done.

Do you have a original xp or vista cd/dvd you could use to do a fresh install on your laptop?

A virus have just destroy almost all my computer software, what should i do to restore it to factory settings?( system restore is not working)

You should have a CD (or set of CDs) that was supplied with your PC that you can use to re-install your system. If not, you may have created the backup CDs when you first started your computer and you may be able to use those. As a last resort, you can contact the manufacturer and request a copy of the baseline CD. These are usually available for three years after purchase, but may be available longer depending on the manufacturer. You can also try Ebay and other sites to see if someone is offering the reinstallation CDs if they are not available from the manufacturer. If you built it yourself, or someone assembled it for you, you can start with the MS Windows CDs and build up from there.

Hard Disk Crash

If you have replaced HDD of your machine, then there is no otherway to get your things back rather than installing them. If you have CDs from Sony, then you are safe.

Can;t use recovery partition in sony vaio z520n/b

If you go to sony's website and under drivers and support, put in your model number you should either be able to download the recovery software (which wont work if your recovery partition is gone) or order the recovery cds from them for a nominal fee (anywhere from 10 bux to 50 bux depending)...you can also call them to order the cds aswell or find out where you can download the software..usually the easiest option.

Sony vaio not loading windos

Try booting XP with the installation CD & use the recovery console to boot the laptop.

From the Setup CD-ROM

Insert the Setup compact disc (CD) and restart the computer. If prompted, select any options required to boot from the CD.
When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts; choose the repair or recover option by pressing R. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access from the Recovery Console. When prompted, type the Administrator password. At the system prompt, type Recovery Console commands; type help for a list of commands, or help commandname for help on a specific command.

To exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer, type exit.
