No zone 2 sound coming from yamaha amp rx-v861

Hello, I hope you can help me,after reading the manual several times over,i cannot understand how to set up the rxv861 receiver amp to use zone 2 outdoor speakers.could someone please put in simple laymans terms( inc speaker wiring to the amp) from very start to very end via menu instructions how i can do this, as i am an absolute beginner. Please disregard product description below,Thanks very much in advance.regards Steve I connected the Zone 2 outputs to an older amplifier (JVC A-X77) to power my outdoor speakers. I set the selector switch to source on the front of the RX-V995. I can hear the outdoor speakers when I select Tuner for the input, but when I select DVD or TV I get nothing to the outdoor speakers. I've also tried setting the Zone 2 selector to DVD or TV and still get nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Had same problem. A and B speakers are basically connected together, and there is no way to get the same volume out of each speaker. This is not a multi-source receiver like Onkyo. Zone 2 needs to go to a seperate amplifier and select teh correct source on the fornt,

No volume from surround sound system on dtvcbl cable, dvd or cd modes with yamah rx-v861 powered on.?

Have you looked at the manual? How did it fare using the set up test tones? Did you assign the digital inputs?

Have no sound when I connect the rear speakers

Open the "Menu" on screen, go to "manual setup" then "speaker setup" check your settings on "surround rear" and "surround back" If your not using zone 2 and zone 3, in the menu for zone 2 amp, select "Ext" and "Ext" for zone 3. If you still have an issue, post a comment and I can help you some more. I am a Yamaha Dealer. Hope this helps

No zone 2 sound coming from yamaha amp rx-v861

We had the same problem - I think it was reset when the power went off in a storm. Went to Yamaha website (http://www.yamaha.com/yec/faq/faqdetail.html?CNTID=206010&CTID=5009135) and found the following worked:

Assigning the receivers internal amp for Zone 2:
  1. Set the remote control [SIDE SELECTOR SWITCH] to [AMP]. (Located to the right of the volume buttons on the Remote).
  2. Press the [SET MENU] button on the remote control.
  3. Arrow down to Manual Setup and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  4. Arrow to the Sound Menu option and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  5. Arrow to Speaker Set and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  6. Arrow to the EXTRA SP ASSIGN and select ZONE2
  7. Press the [RETURN] button on the remote control to exit out and return to the Manual Setup.
