Restoring Dell computer

Hello.
i had A LOT of virus' and trojans on my computer. so i installed spyware doctor and regcure to get rid of the virus' and trojans. it got rid of most of the virus' but all of the applications such microsoft word and everything in the control panel including system restore when clicked on comes up as an application error saying "the instruction at 0x636e3156 referenced memory at 0x00ad19b0. the memory could not be read. click on ok to terminate the program click on cancel to debug the program. since this deals with reference memory i got regcure. but that program didn't help the situation. i want to restore my computer but it won't let me use the system restore. is there anything i can do without taking it to a computer repairman?
thank you for your help.

you can email me at shashomaru_77@hotmail.com

Well first thing I cannot find that disc at the moment, and the second thing is that any application cd's aren't working and are coming up with the same referenced memory error.

The best thing for you to do is to recover your computer back to the way it wasy when you purchased it. Warning, you will lose all data you have on your computer so you need to make sure you have a backup. You need to boot off of the operating system cd that came with your Dell. Once that's loaded, then you need to run the cd that says applications and drivers, and follow the instructions for your computer that comes onscreen.

Computer is running real slow and cant find restore disc to redo computer

Hi dmwm1996

There is a few things you can do to speed your computer back up...
1...Clean up your hard disk...
Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup

2...Defrag your Hard Drive...
Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter

3...Add the maxium amount of ram to your computer that is allowed

4...Clean any old programs, files, pictures, etc off of your computer that you no longer use.

5...Last but not least...
Your computer may be loaded with spyware, virus's, trojans, etc. and that will make your computer run slow also.
To get rid of any spyware, virus, trojan, etc you will need to do the following:

Download, install and run Microsoft Safety Scanner...
It will clean your machine of spyware,virus's,trojans,worms...and the best part...it's FREE

What is Antivirus software?

If you google "Antivirus Software", you will get a lot of sites. They also explain the different things they protect your computer against, i.e. trojan viruses, worms, spyware, and the like. It's a good thing to have, and you have a lot of options of different ones to try, and buy.

Hello,

The 2 files you are asking about are trojan virus files. You need to install a good anti-virus program and do a complete PC scan. A good one to use is from pctools, it is called spyware doctor with antivirus. You can get it online at www.pctools.com

How can i get rid of trojan an spyware viruses?

i recommend using adaware free edition from www.lavasoft.de also search for combofix.exe it is very helpful in removing alot of viruses.and don't forget you can always do system restore that works most of the time.just run the syastem resore wizard and choose a date when you know your computer was not infected.don't worry it won't erase any files, just puts the registery back in order.if you dont know how to use system restore, goto start menu and click help and search for system restore

I have a toshiba satellite a-210 laptop only 8 months but it has become very slow to respond to mouse clicks. I am afraid I have a virus

You probably have spyware, especially if you surf the net a lot.

Download Ad-Aware from http://lavasoft.com/

also try spyware doctor: http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=afl_nenextech

Ad-Aware is a great program for scanning and removing spyware and is free. Spyware Doctor removes more spyware, but cost money for the full version. The free version will scan, but won't remove much without you paying for it. It is a very good program though, and the free program will tell you if you have infections.

How do you get rid of a virus that has got thru my norton, firewall and windows defender. i think its a trojan?

You can try different antivirus like AVG, NOD32, or kaspersky, but if you really want to erase it then back up all of your data and then reformat your HD using the Windows Vista Installation disk.Or better delete the partition and then recreate it,this will 110% get rid of that virus. You may want to use a anti spyware utility like ad-aware this can also get rid most spyware/trojan out their.

Virus on my computer help!

Hi,

Don't worry, trojan.adclicker is not a serious threat, only some spyware which is not anywhere near as malicious as a virus. There are two things you can do to get rid of it though..

1) Follow these instructions (They are long winded but will work)
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2002-091214-5754-99&tabid=3

2) Download Spybot S&D. This is a really good bit of software that should get rid of it much more easily for you, and will probably get rid of other similar stuff on your pc. Follow the link below and then install the program, then scan the system, then fix problems.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

I would recommend trying option 2 first, it will be less hassle.

Hope this was helpful
