Buners will not Fully Light

I have a 4 burner Kenmore (700 sq in) propane grill. I works pretty well but the two outside burners tend to not fullly light especially if all the burners are being used.

If the two middle burners are on the right side burner will flutter and not fully ignite.

The right side burner by itself will work if on HIGH but on MED or LOW it will not fully ignite and will flutter.

The end effect is that I lose a significant portion of my cooking space.

Hi,
As well as the gas nozzles for those burners, Try cleaning the pipe that runs from them to the actual rings.

It's not uncommon for spiders to nest in equipment seldom used, and this will stop the airflow to the burner. Try cleaning it with a piece of rope or cord.

I believe maklean you are referring to a electric burner not a gas grill.
    Thanks,

It sounds like there is not enough flow to provide the gas to all the burners at once.

A burner doesn't work Heating elements eventually burn out. Sometimes, when an element burns out, you can see that the coil burns in two, or blisters and bubbles.

When your heating element burns out, you have to replace it because they are not repairable. If, when the heating element burns out, the infinite switch that controls it also fails, you have to replace it too. Also see the "A burner works only intermittently" section, next.

I have a Kenmore Quantum grill and all of a sudden the burners do not want to ignite. The propane tank is new. I tried with a lighter to ignite the burners and nothing. The ignitor button doesn't...

The problem you're having is related to the OPD Valve in the Propane Tank. But, it is solvable by following the instructions below.

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My kenmore 4 burner was working fine, but after i changed gas tank, the middle two burners shoots flame under the stainless steel through the tiny holes towards the person standing infront of it...

Turn the propane tank off.

Remove the burners and clean them thoroughly of rust and spider webs, taking particular care of the throat where the orifice shoots gas into the burner. Also make sure the burner holes are free of rust. Wipe any accumulations off of the gas orifices also.

Let me know what you find.

does the same burner flame turn blue if other burners decreast in flow-with that burner on high and others low-is it still yellow? if so Gas Valve needs to be replaced.

Weak Flames on Propane Grill

It is possible that your burners are clogged. Clean the burner ports with a paperclip (not a toothpick).

Gas grill lights but doesn't get very hot

I had this same problem especially when the tank on my 5 burner 2 year-old Kenmore was about half full. The solution above fixed it. I was used to opening the gas fully, turning one burner to high and clicking the button. If I would have read the front of the grill I would have seen that this was incorrect. I turned off the grill completely, unhooked the regulator and reconnected it. With one burner on high I began clicking the button BEFORE I turned on the gas. I slowly turned the gas on one quarter turn and it lit up full flame. I slowly turned the gas another quarter turn and lit the second burner. I slowly opened the gas all the way and lit the third and so on. That did the trick!
