Hi, I have a 2003 Chevy Venture and my 2 year old did something to the CD player and now it won't play and there is a disc stuck inside. There is nothing on the display like "LOCKED" or "ERROR". The radio still works fine and yes I asked my 2 year old "what did you do", blank look in his eyes. Thanks, Scott CA

You have to take it apart. look for screws on the panel around the stereo. pull it apart as much as you can. Inside the cd player will likely be a peanut butter sandwich.

Buy a CD Lens Cleaning Disc from Walmart. Run that a couple of times. If that doesn't fix it send it back.
Oh, it a portable Sony Disc Player clone. That means it has to be 15 years old or more. Actually, I found the date '18/6/2007'. It's a new 14 year old device that has been in storage. Emerson are a bargain basement brand and generally lack quality..
Do you know what speed the fan is blowing now. if it is on high, then the high speed fan relay could be stuck on if that's the case locate the relay & tap on it with a screwdriver handle or Something of the sort. Otherwise it may be the ballast resistor ( speed resistor) for the fan. It could also be the fan motor itself, but not likely
Most likely it will only play PCM, which is the raw audio format of prerecorded audio cds. It will not play mp3 or flac or any of the newer formats. You can try a wav one and see but it may not work.
Some of the older cd players, car or otherwise, just aren't capable of recognizing CD-RW's. The player in my 10 year old Ford Mondeo doesn't, but the updated model player in the newer Mondeo does play CD-RW's.
hi from uk from your symptoms re cd it may be that a disc is stuck inside and not retracting on eject ? if yourplay/radio is flip off front ? it may be contact dirty on rear of facia ? other than this you may be better shopping for a replacement player considering cost of repair if any to old player you can purchase players at a low price being 2003 ? it may be best if you like your music and keeping car for long time check out motor stores or brand new players on e bay with warranty's good luck
Many of the older Car CD Players will not play CD-R's or they may with static sounds behind the music. What you need to do is try using a different brand of cd-r disc. If this doesn't work then it means that you may need to replace the CD player because the model that you have may not be decoded in order to play CD-R, CD-RW, play MP3's or anything of that such.

as techman said "the old" carry with cds inside problem" yes you most have one cd inside thats the problem but letme tell you something is a problem for a cualify tech becouse to remove that cd you have to brake apart the hold cds carrier...good luck
one of the most common problems with a cd or dvd player when it sctatchs the disc is thats ikts been abused. The turntable or lens is out of alighnment and scratching the disc.
