Re: fridge / Freezer no longer cooling F26R4ARS
It could be the freezer control, try tapping the freezer and see if the compressor starts. I was out on a similiar call this week, the adc was replaced per frigidaire tech line but the problem continued. I found that the freezer control would cut out and no power would get to the condensor fan or the compressor, but the evaporator fan would run. The part is 106.99.

check that the compressor is working by feeling for motor vibrations at the compressor, hot compressor unit or hot fins or back wall of the fridge
if there is not heat then the compressor is not working
call a technician as it could be a start/run capacitor failed or compressor seized
get a quote as some compressor replacements cost as much as a new fridge
check that the utility power is getting to the fridge/freezer
Hey sounds like thermostat is no longer working (isn't regulating fridge's temperature), you can replace it yourself, all you need if fridge make and model number and order one from an appliance repair shop. Or have them do it. Either way it will probably cost more than the fridge is worth ($50 average for thermostat) to get it fixed...
Its the defrost problem. In your unit the defrost cycle is not running on time. This is the procedure of the unit.--- The compressor starts
then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level
the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer
section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is
passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from
freezer to fridge passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. In your case the freezer gets cold, after that defrost cycle has to start, but in your case the defrost cycle is not starting on time so over ice gets internally build and when defrost cycle starts, this ice melts and this gets leaks in the vegetable and under vegetable drawer.-------- Get the defrost timer, and defrost assembly parts checked and repaired by the technician.Repairing will solve the problem. You can get
required parts from from online sites like:
--- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This
Your refrigerator needs to be turned off and aompletely defrosted. Overnight if possible. You have a large amount of ice built up on the freezer coil that is blocking air flow.
Most refrigerator sections are only cooled by air flow from the fan in the freezer section.
Thaw it and clean it out real good and you should be back in business.
Jimmy, Check the condenser coil and clean it if it is dirty. It is located under the machine behind the grill in the front, or in the back of the machine near the compressor depending on the make and model. Also make sure that the condenser cooling fan near the compressor is working. If the refrigerant is not cooled properly in the condenser the system will run hot and not cool properly inside the freezer. If this does not help your problem, you will probably need a refrigerant technician to check the system. A rule of thumb for refrigerator repair, Freezer working but Fridge warm = airflow blocked inside the unit somewhere, Fridge cooling but Freezer too warm = refrigerant problem. This is usually a major problem that will cost too much to repair than is cost effective . Check your owners manual for warranty information. Look for coverage for the "sealed system". This is usually 5 yrs but can go much longer depending on make and model. Let me know what you find out. Please post the model and serial numbers if you have any more questions and I will try to help. Thanks, Mike
