Hello,

Do you have a starting or running problem? Any spark will ignite gasoline.

Describe you exact problem, and I can help.

Briggs and Stratton 19.5 hp engine. Does the small wire coming in underneath bring power in ?

If it's a magneto or ignition module then its a kill wire. I know of no Briggs and Stratton engines that used battery powered ignition. So connecting the kill wire to the armature of the magneto (ignition module or engine case) will prevent spark.

My 11.5 hp Briggs & Stratton model 217902-0015-G1 engine on my riding mower stopped during use & won't restart. What to do to troubleshoot given that I've tried everything listed in options?

You check the magneto when you checked the spark plug? That is the timing and ignition for the unit. It may be the gap between the magnet on the flywheel and the magneto is too big, This would affect the timing and spark output there is also a woodruff key on the flywheel and that sets the flywheel in timing position with the crankshaft. Make sure it has not slipped.

What is the magneto gap for a 6HP Briggs & Stratton 12H802 series engine?

Briggs lists it as .006 - .010 on this 6 HP L-head engine. The .010 width can easily be attained by using a standard sized business card as a feeler gauge (and it doesn't stick to the magnets in the flywheel). I double up the card, loosen the coil and let the magnets in the flywheel draw the pickup legs in until they press on the card, tighten up the retaining screws (threadlocker is optional) and your air gap is set.

There are no timing marks, timing is correct when the flywheel key is in place, the flywheel is properly torqued and the air gap for the magneto is properly set

Cant get a spark on my briggs and stratton 4hp engine, trying to

gap from coil to flywheel is .010. if you've replaced coil, points and condenser with no spark i would try replacing the coil and points with an magnetron kit or a coil that allows for the elimination of points.
