Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60XS955 60" Rear Projection HDTV
Our tv is uner warranty, but continue to have the same problem- this will be the fourth time i've had to call for service on this tv. rather dissappointed in the stamina of the tv... beautiful picture when it works thou. this is the cycle it goes thru- runs fine- then out goes the picture., 6 times the red light flashes over and over, then after about 5-10 minutes you can hear a little sound that indicates it's ready to be turned on again- so we do- it works fine for about 30-40 minutes give or take then the picture goes out again and the process repeats itself. 1st time servce was performed-the bulb was replaced and the thermometer sensor, 2nd time service was performed- the bulb, the thermometer sensor and the fan, 3rd time the bulb only which the repair man said he only did as a courtesy because when he came out the 3rd time thetv decided to work right before he got ther. so the tv was on and no flashing light. if trired to explain what happens, but he just became rude and treated me like i was and idiot. so i'm hesitant on calling for service again- dont want to deal with that guy again. extremely frustrated at the amount of money spent on this tv for it to work intermittently. the service protection we have says if they cant fix it after the 3rd time they replace it . which would be great- except i think the argument i'm going to receive every time is- we fixed it!! which means we have a tv we paid way too much for and it works when it wants to, and we have a servie we paid for that's beneficial to those who wrote it, not to us... You may have a defective tv.
the best recommendation is to file a complaint, record the entire time you turn the tv on and it goes out, and show it to the next person that comes to service the tv.
Circuit city has a complaint form that you can ask for.
I did this once for a guy that "tried to fix" this exact same KDF-60XS955.
