Same thing for me. Manual makes it sound like the finalize option should be accessible from the Disc Menu Button, but I can't see it.

I have a Zenith XBR413 that I have a problem with when I copy from VCR tapes to DVD-R discs. After I copy them, I can finalize the disc using the SETUP button on the remote and then choosing the very bottom disc icon at the bottom of the menu screen. It then leads you through the finalization procedure. But the disc will still not play on any DVD player but the XBR413

After dubbing from vhs to dvd, the dubbed dvd is placed into a PC but it comes up saying the dvd is blank..We used a dvd+R dvd. Any ideas?

First did you finalize the disc after dubbing? When the DVD/VCR recorder is in stop mode, press Menu and navigate to Disc Settings > Disc Finalize and select Finalize and press Enter. Select OK and then Enter again. (Navigate the menus with the up/down arrows followed by pressing enter. Use the right/left arrows to highlight an option.)

If the disc was finalized, try a different brand of DVD+R or a DVD-R disc. I've seen some DVD recorders that don't work well with some brands or types of discs. (The same can happen with computers - burning a coaster.)

The manual is available here: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Samsung-DVD-VR375-UserManual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Dubbed DVDs will not play

You have to use the Magnavox dual to finalize the discs, and then they should be able to play on other players. I don't have a manual for that exact recorder, but in general you would go to the Settings Menu of the DVD player --> go to Disc Edit --> and then select Finalize - the exact pathway might be a bit different on that particular recorder. Once you have finalized one of your discs, try it on another DVD player and see if it works. Good luck!

Can not get dubbing to work

Samsung's solution to many problems seem to be the type of dvd. Try using a dvd-r. I am able to select dubbing with a dvd+r, but the +r discs won't play in other dvd players. Apparently, -r is the only disc to use with this box to avoid issues. The +r records the soundtrack a few seconds off of the video track.

Dubbing VHS to DVD

You have to go into the Home menu and select setup. At the bottom left there should be an icon that looks like a dvd disc. Select that and then go to finalize and select that to finalize the disc. After that is complete it should play on any dvd player. I had this problem and I got through to LG's customer service line and had them talk me through it. After I finalized the disc, it worked.

Error code E 4 54040990

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

No Instruction Manual

1. Insert a blank DVD disc in the DVD deck and
close the disc tray.
2. Insert the VHS video tape you wish to copy into
the VCR deck.
3. Find the place on the VHS tape from which you
want to start dubbing using the PLAY, FF, REW
and PAUSE functions. For best results, pause
playback at the point from which you want to
record.
4. Press the DUBBING button on the Remote
Control or DUB on the front panel.
The Dubbing menu appears.
5. Use the arrow keys to select the desired Record
Mode: EP, LP, SP or XP.
6. Select [Dubbing] then press ENTER or DUBBING
to start copying.
7. To stop dubbing at any other time, press STOP (x).
Dubbing will stop automatically when the VHS tape ends.
