There are certain modes that you simply can't get digital zoom in (such as widescreen mode). If that isn't the problem, perhaps it's not enabled. According to the manual which I believe is here: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/7/0300001567/01/PSSX10IS_CUG_EN.pdf on page 54 of the manual (p56 of the PDF) it shows that the digital zoom can be enabled in the FUNC menu (in a record mode). The description of digital zoom, including the safety zone, which might explain why you can't get digital zoom under certain circumstances, is on page 68. Note that there's a big chart on page 286/287 that shows what features are available in each mode - I have a feeling that this could be your problem.

I have a Canon IXUS 40 how do i turn on the digital zoom

Heres the support site for that model http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=10599
I would never use the digital zoom on a camera, as you can do exacttly the same on a computer - so keep the full optical setting and the you can zoom in and crop using a PC - with a lot more control

How do I use the self timer on my Camedia c-4000?

Turn it on.
Press menu button (bottom right beside monitor)
on the Drive menu, press right arrow (on the navigational arrows - top right) to move to selections.
Move down four options - the one with "the little clock (pointing to 11pm) and a radio".
Press o.k. (the button with the green key underneath)
That should now show the clock as the selected option on the drive option.
Press menu one final time to exit.
Camera is now in timer mode until you reset back.

To reset back > press menu - at drive menu - select the top option (looks like a single page image) - press o.k. - press menu

If dust is in the camera, it must be opened. I suggest not doing this yourself. Lookup a Canon dealer in your region and ask for support.

I have got a Canon Powershot SX100 IS, but when I connect it to the television to see the pictures they show on the TV in black & white. Can you help ?

  1. Press the Menu button,
  2. go to the Setup "Tools" menu,
  3. scroll down and select the "Video System" option.
  4. If you live in the US, set it to "NTSC" video format if it's in Pal. You may have to select Pal for television in some countries overseas. Either way, set it to the other option than you currently have selected.

That should do it.

Canon A540

The date will only show up on the picture under a limited set of circumstances on the Canon PowerShot digital cameras, of which the A540 is one. You've probably found the Date function in the menu, but discovered that it was off, grayed out, and skipped over whenever you tried to reset it.

Date stamp will only work in "Postcard" mode. Press the Function button (labeled "FUNC SET"), then press the down button until you reach the Recording Pixels selection (usually labeled "L", but not always). It's probably the bottom onscreen selection. Use the right or left buttons to select Postcard, then press the Function button again.

Press the Menu button and scroll down to Date Stamp. Now you should be able to select "Date" or "Date & Time" with the right or left button. Press Menu again and take your pictures.
