Question about Frigidaire FAC124 wall/Window Air Conditioner

Unit stops working and I need to unplug unit

This remote control unit has been working fine for 7 years. This year I notice that it will be blowing fine and then suddenly the temp control changes to #5 or #7 and only the fan will be working. I need to pull the plug because the remote or manual does not work. Then when I plug the unit in again it starts to work. Should I call the electrician or call be service

I have this exact same problem, except my unit is the FAS155M1A1. It's only four years old. Occasionally after pulling the plug to resart it, it simply will not come back on. Sometimes it works fine for a bit, then shows a partial display, and runs fan only, other times it loses the display completely. Once the display is partial or off, the on/off button (or any button) doesn't work - and you're forced to reset by pulling the plug.

It seems to me very much an electronics/controller issue, since everything else works great when its functioning.

After 7 years of great service you should retire this system and replace it with a new unit.

Products made these days are not built for quality, that was back in the good old days, it's 2008, things are made to only last a short period of time.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I will only tell you the best solution for your problem and not waste your time running around trying to fix something that may cost you more than replacing the problem you already have.

Have a Great Day!!

Our Kreisler air conditioner is rarely used, is 7 years old and will not switch on. The batteries have been renewed on the remote. Could it be the sensor in the unit? Do I need a service man?

The first thing I would suggest it to verify that power is provided to the unit. You should get a display on the face of the indoor unit if there is power. If there is power, try turning the outdoor unit off for a few seconds and back on to reset the controller. If your unit is like I think it is, the indoor unit receives its power and control signal from the outdoor unit, then the remote utilizes a rf signal to control the system. Also try new batteries in YOUR remote.

The fins are dirty. They need to be washed every year or two with an acid based cleaner. They MUST be rinsed completely.

My AC unit wont blow the cold air.

if the ac outside is working, but not the furnace, means there is a control problem with the furnace, check wires in the furnace, make sure there is a blower wire plugged into the contact marked cool on the control panel of the furnace

Hi have central air . Unit working ok but noticed not blowing cold air . The fan outside is working , Unit comes on . Could it be feron . unit it about 7 years old . Purchase house about 4 years ago

You need to have a pressure gauge the reads for R-22. (Freon) It sounds like the system might have a leak. Look for a wet place any place on the units pipe system. It has a little oil in with the freon that is forced out of any leak. If you see a wet place this is oil. It is also the location of your leak.

Sometimes it blows cold, sometimes it doesnt.

The coils that are located right behind the filter need to be cleaned extremely well. You can purchase a spray from your local hardware dealer that can clean the coils. Also, rinse the fins at the back side of the unit as well. Dirty units can cause this to happen. If you clean it and it continues, you have developed a refrigerant leak. Since window units are so inexpensive today, it is not cost effective to hire someone to come out and find and repair it. Hope this is of help to you.

Delonghi pac-02 a/c

I had similar problem .... on very humid days unit leaks ..... temp solution for me was to drain the unit .... inserted wire coat hanger into tube .... lots of watery gook came out.. - even tilted/tipped the unit inorder to get as much water out of it.......afterwards unit worked fine.

We are VERY SASTIFIED with the Delonghi Pinguino - bought it years ago when it first came out and it has provided years of troublefree service .... the water build up / leaking was only recently - in fact we never drained the thing until this year.

Will not cool properly.

You have either a faulty thermostat, dirty condenser and evaporator or a faulty run capacitor. Need to service soon before the compressor is damaged. Sea Breeze

20 year old central a/c heater not working

Check your thermostat and mode selector setting, thermostat setting should be set at warmer and mode selector setting should be at low heat or hight this is applicable for manual unit.
If it is a remote control just set the remote to heat mode.
