Check that your on the right focus option. The slider on the side of the camera needs to be on S for the face detection to work.

I have a SL102 and the face detection will not move from the off position, is there a way to reset it?

First: not in every mode Face detection will work. It could be you only see the bracets the camera will focus on.

to set it up:
Press the menu button in an available mode.
Press Up/Down button to select the [Functions} menu
Then press Right/OK button
Select Face detection by pressing the up / down button and press OK

Samsung has your manual online available. Just google for it.

Please can you advise on my Olympus SP-800UZ, When you take a picture the white box that comes up over peoples faces etc. And when you half press the button and the box goes green. I'm not sure if it...

-that feature is called face detection.

-face detection: it tries to detect faces in order for the camera to give focus on faces. focuses on faces (up to 16) rather than other picture elements that might be in the foreground or background

-how to disable: remove face detection from the af mode menu

Hi! i just bought my new GE camera C1433 i just want to ask how to activate the face detection mode of the camera. Reply pls.. thanks..!! :)

Easy! When you have just turned the camera on, press the left directional key (marked with the small figure of a person).

Tip: to check whether it's working, point it at a picture of a politician.

I do not have a manual decribing what face detction function performs

Face detection tries to find a face or faces in your view when you are taking a picture and it focuses on the face(s) rather than some other object.

Stuck in face detection mode

Take cover off of camera. Set it face up and look directly under the zoom/capture button, there should be an slim orange wire(about a quarter inch wide) with a small black pad on the top of it. Disconnect this by pulling it up(it kind of sounds like velcro), then wait a minute and reconnect it. And it should work fine!

I'm no expert, I just took mine apart and messed with it, I think it just resets the internal memory.

Good Luck

Smile shutter feature

Select the smile shutter option from the program settings. You will see an icon of a smiley face on the bottom left hand of the screen. To activate the automatic shot of when a person smiles, simply hold down the shutter button for a second or two. Now, when the camera face detection senses a smile, it will automatically take the picture. To deactivate it, press the shutter button again, the camera will then tell you how many shots it took. Hope this helps.
