Hello we went into the internet and they are all Junk from what we see.We had a MFC-4420C Before and it has a code 41 and all brother does is keep sending you refurbished printers back and forth so you have no warranty at all the warranty starts at the time you buy the first one so that is what happens.So beware anyone with Brother printers with these models. They are both Junk and you will just lose your money.

Hi there Solution: ·Machine off ·Switch on the machine while holding down the “menu”button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in “maintenance” mode. ·Press 80 ·Press the “mono start” button several times until you see “purge: xxxx” ·Press “2783” in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: “purge:0000” ·Press the "stop" button. ·Press “99” to exit the maintenance mode. My Brother printer MFC-465cn is doing the same thing. I have workaround / worked-around it by disabling bi-directional printing. Then print is clear. It's as if the head is shifting an irregular amount on the opposite direction, like the head is loose.
Same for copies. If I use the PC interface to make copies, I can set the copy printing to be mono-directional, then copies are clear.
