Question about Digital Cameras

Nikon Coolpix s210

Hello-

I bought my Nixon Coolpix s210 camera just 2 weeks ago and have only used it once. When I went to use it today, every time I turned the camera on the lens would go in and out for a few seconds untill the words "Lens error" would come up on the screen. I was wondering what I should do to fix it?

I purchased my Nikon Coolpix s210 only a month ago and so far have been really happy with it. The problem is, I accidentally dropped it on the floor, and the lens is slightly crooked. The camera seems to be working, only it says lens error and the lens remains visibly crooked. I have dropped it once before and the same thing happened, only I just clicked it back in and it worked again, this time I can tell its not going to be as simple.

I (stupidly) tried to fix it myself and it now has a series of bite marks on the side of the lens.

I don't mind paying for it to be repaired, I just need to know if it is repairable or not, if anyone knows, please tell me!!!!

Same thing...this has happened twice now with the same camera. I have no idea how my fiance fixed it the 1st time but it's getting very aggravating. Just now, the "lens error" message came up about 12 times when I tried to turn on the camera, and I had to switch it on/off again and again...took the battery out, replaced it, etc. Now it's working fine, but I would prefer this not to happen at all!

Hey SandyG1019,
If you just purchased this camera 2 weeks ago it might still be within the retailers return/exchange period, and I would suggest you just exchange it for a new one. This error message should mean that something is obstructing the movement of the lens (i.e. sand), but could also be do to a problem with the lens mechanism itself. If you choose to try and resolve the problem you could try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens to try and dislodge whatever is stuck in the lens. This being said I would suggest instead having the camera looked at by an authorized service technician since the camera is most likely covered under a manufacturers’ warranty, and the repair would most likely be free. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

I can't transfer pictures to my computer with the nikon coolpix S210

Hello and welcome to FixYa

Please go to a electronics store and buy a USB card reader. I bought one last week and it cost $0.5 so its cheap as dirt. Then simply remove the card from your camera , pop it into the reader and the pictures will appear on a drive like a flashdrive in your my computer folder.

This is a much better option than using the camera's cable as it is faster , safer , saves on your camera battery and you don't need to install any software or drivers.

The card reader will most likely also still be compatible with any new camera you buy in future.

Kind Regards
Andrea

Can nikon colpix S210 be used for webcam.

You can't. The S210 was designed as a camera, storing high-resolution pictures (and videos) to a memory card. It was not designed to stream low-resolution videos live to another device.

Hello I have a nikon coolpix s7c that i bought in the usa about 2yrs ago i dropped it it does every thing but take photoes or film anything. i think the shutter must be stuck. bought anotherone off ebay...

Yes, but its not somehing you're going to be able to do without explicit knowledge - as there are 200 pieces in the shutter alon that must be disassembled properly in tight tolerances - and then faulty parts replaced.

I recommend taking the camera in to an AUTHORIZED Nikon repair shop to have it cleaned and repaired.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

I cannot activate Nikon Coolpix S210 (problem with ON/OFF button)

had a similar issue with my Pentax, it would power on and power back off. Tried playing with it for a while and it never recovered. Chances are its time to replace it. These new electronics are jam packed with lots of mini moving parts and are prone to excessive wear over time. they're are no servicable parts inside them unfortunately. I would try ebay for a reasonable replacement camera.

Flash not working

I figured out how to fix the flash... but not the clicking sound in the lens. To fix it... click the mode button, then go to the settings icon
(the arrow pointing at the wrench), then keep going down to the reset all part. and click okay while your on it. Your flash should work after that!
