Change the NTSC/PAL setting in your player to auto

in the video settings of your DVD player.

and i can bet on one thing.

this happens because the DVD player is not compatible with your TVs company.

i don't mean it wont play any disks.
but you wont get proper color on many DVDs.

i had the same problem with my player. at last i got fed up and changed my DVD player and bought a Moser baers player.

now change the settings and see if you get color for VCDs at least.

u can find the compatibility list in your manual of your DVD player.

Are you using the S-Video to Component converter? I was having an almost identical problem, the picture wasn't b/w, but would get a red 'haze' for color.

If you did hook up your Bose to your TV via component, go to the DVD Settings, and enter the System Setup. Scroll down to the 'More'...button and one more time to get to page 3 of 3. Change the Video Output to YPbPr.

Did you hook this set up to a differant TV set, differant from the one you first got this unit? Before condemming the unit, make sure the unit is not in progressive scan, unless of course the TV set is compatible with those types of signals. There should be a progressive scan button on the remote. Look in the instruction book for info on that if your not sure.

Hope that helps...........

What connector did you use to hook it up with? S-Video (single circular connector), Composite Video (single RCA connector) or Component video (three RCA connectors) ?Check all the cables, my system sometimes does this when the leads are loose

I hope that helps
Thank you

My dvd's play in black & white. cant get any color in pitures.

Hello,

There are three types of display settings. 1 PAL, 2, NTSC and 3, Auto.

The pal and auto makes a display show color while the NTSC allow a display show in black and white but sometimes NTSC also shows color. It is possible that the display format on the movie is NTSC.

To fix this problem, play the movie that shows black and white. When the movie shows in black and white, press PAL/NTSC or P/N on the remote control and it should display in color.

Or Go to the player menu, check video or display setting, change it to Auto.

Problem should be fixed because that's where it lies....

But if it doesn't solve the problem, please let me know so that I may direct you further on what next to do.

I hope you understand the above.

Good luck.

After the dvd plays for like 10-15 minutes(when dvd player warms up?) all the colors on the screen turn to black, yellow and purple for the rest of the movie. What's wrong?

I gotta know more clearly about your question, i am going to explain in 'Guide Solutions'
Guide 1: Is it the color just cover the main grid? (Color cover like blocking the others, such as watching 70s TV shows, the colors blocked in black and white.)
Source 1: Audio input problems, your dvd audio input linked with three different 'rops', they are appeared to be push by pressure.
Solution 1: Determine more spaces to them!
Guide 2: Is it the color cover the photon grid? (Color cover at all pictures, each of them doesn't stand the other colors instead of replaced by unique color)
Source 2: Undefined
Solution 2: The TV setting menu seems to b set by specific colors, change it on your own using remote. OR this is a specific part that the DVD need to show the color in unique color (only one)
(No problems, keep watching)!

I'm not getting any color pictures in my home theater system

Well, assuming were talking about a dvd player with dvd's,you dont specify what type of cables you are using to conect it to your tv, it appears that it has something to do with Progressive Scan been turned on. Progressive Scan is a feature built in your dvd player, wich by using it, it would give you a better picture//resolution on your tv, you need to use Component or HDMI cables to hook up the dvd to your tv if you want this settings, but if you are using composite RCA cables (Red,White & Yellow) and the Progressive funtion is turned on by accident, it may give you a split screen, black & white, or no picture problems. Also if you are using Component (Blue, Green & Red) cables, if one of them is unplug, the picture can be out of colors, or no picture. Check this things, if not, write back with more details about your set up.

Thanks...
