Frigidaire AC Window, Model # FAC107P1A2

Problem: Unit will not turn on.

My unit is only 2 years old and hasn't been used very much. When I installed it in the window and plugged it in, the unit wouldn't turn on. I've tried the test-reset button on the plug dozens of times, but to no avail. I have confirmed that the electrical cord does have power going into the unit.

It was suggested to me that I leave the unit unplugged for several hours then try again. I did that and the unit still did not turn on.

Have you checked the connections with a multimeter to ensure there is a signal. even at the ac have you checked that when the thermostat kicks on its getting the signal. If not get a multimeter and test it out and you can eliminate whether or not its the thermostat.

Thats odd, something should light up. Check for a loose wire connector inside the machine, if you have volt meter, you may want to do some voltage checks after the main power connector comes into the machine from the back.
If still nothing that can be a problem with the Control Panel Board that you may need to replace it.

Hope that helps.........

It doesn't turn on at all

Check to see if there is power getting to the air conditioner. If it is a 110-volt unit, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the air conditioner is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If there's still no power, you will need to contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it is still completely dead there may be a problem in one or more of the following areas:

    • Wiring (Inspect for any broken or burnt wiring)

    • Thermostat

    • Compressor

    • Overload and/or relay

    • Selector switch

    • Control board

Work on these areas of an appliance may require help from an appliance repair person or other qualified technician.

Haier window ac constant red light? No label next to red light. Turns on and off fine. Cleaned filter, no change. couple years old. Still cools down the room but not as cold as it used to. Help?

Sounds like the unit is just dirty. The AC pulls air through coils and contains dirt, pollen, grease and all type of pollutants. These contaminants will cling to the coils, reducing the AC ability to transfer heat.

Here's a great YouTube video explaining how to properly clean a window AC. How to Clean Window Air Conditioner

AC units should be cleaned every year (including the whole house units), to maintain their ability to cool efficiently.

Compressor only stays on for 2-3 minutes than shuts off

if the sensors are okay, it might be the compressor overheating, my portable ac (moretti elite ac) is also behaving the same, especially when i turn the fan to max. the compressor shuts down about 7 mins and turns on again in about 5 mins, now i found out when i turn to medium or low the compressor runs normally. i think when on medium or low setting some of the cool air directs/channels to the compressor thus cooling it more.

have you brought it down for a general cleaning on the 3 year period? if not then that's what it needs now.

the coil is freezing up because of dirt accumulation on the coil. even there is a filter, still with in 3 years it could have accumulated to decrease the airflow thru the coil and freeze it up.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Fridgidaire ac window unit

More than likely this unit could be fixed reasonably. It sounds from your explanation like a bad connection inside the control panel of your unit. Could possibly be what is called a cold soldered joint.
