Question about Washing Machines

Top Load Kenmore 20832 that won;t agitate

Mike:

I have patsed your response to a similar problem below. I think your solution will work for me as well. I just need to clarify that I have to make the repair from the bottom of the machine as there is no access from the rear and removal of the back panel is proving difficult.

Thanks in advance

Hugh

Washer filled and when it got ready to agitate it made a loud noise and did not agitate and would not spin. I emptied the machine by pressing on the switch under the lid. I tried other sections on the dial to see if it would agitate or spin and it will not.

Can you help?

this sounds like the direct drive coupling between the motor and transmission. very common problem and not very expensive. look under the machine and and between the motor and transmission you will see a round rubber coupling and 2 plastic pieces one on either side; they all connect together to mate the motor and trans without a belt.

    Mike:

I was able to replace the coupling and get teh cabinet back together. My problem now is that the water level switch isn't working. It doesn't shut the water off and start the wash cycle.

Mike that did the trick. It wasn't pinched however I took it off and replaced it and then it worked. I will keep an eye on it for the next few loads. Thanks again.

  • yes you can make the repair from the bottom.
  • or you can unscrew and flip back the control panel revealing 2 metal spring clips that hold the case in place. use a screwdriver to release the spring clips and the whole case will come off.
  •  it is a little tricky to put it back on though so you might want to just try to access it from the bottom.
  •  lay the machine down on its side and you can see all the components from the bottom.
  • start with the water pump (2 metal clips holds it on)
  • then the motor (also has metal clips but larger and may have retaining screws)
  • this will give you full access to the coupling

    • when you put the case back on did you notice a translucent plastic tube running alongside the wire harness?

    •  this is the water level pressure tube.

    •  flip back the control panel and make sure it is not pinched between the case and the rear panel.

    • if it not pinched then make sure it is connected to the tub properly, if even a little air gets in while it is filling up it will over flow.

    • let me know how it turns out.

HORN AND AUTOMATIC WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO

Hi Cleo,

I think you should release the Caps Lock on your keyboard and replace the blown fuse in your Liberty. There are usually a few spares.

The fuse box cover has a legend on it telling which is which. Look for "PWR WDO" or something similar.

Or pull them one by one until you find the burnt one. Then replace it.

Best regards
Mike

Problem with Installing Mike at Same place morthen one mike

Hi, frequencies can easily jam when the mic that your using has the same frequency response or alike response.

You can check if the sensitivity response on the receiver is alike or the same. Usually represented with numbers on the receiver. If they are alike, it is likely to fluctuate.

Take care.

W300i speaker stopped working, other side cannot hear my voice

Hi, my w300i speaker (mike) stopped working, my voice cannot be heard on the other side, but, when I connect the handsfree, things become fine.

Seems, the internal mike has got a problem, please suggest a remedy?

is it mandatory to get the mike changed, something similar had happened a year back and that time, they had said, that since the mike is a part of the board, the entire circuit board needs to get replaced.

Any idea, how much the board (circuit) will cost in Mumbai, India?

Hello Voodoomox,

Please let me clarify:
I meant after getting cut off from a chat, following up through two posts, supplying all the necessary links to make life easier, your obvious patience, why, after all that do you get an Inappropriate rating?

It was uncalled for, undeserved, unwarranted and unfair. You were trying to help, doing everything you could and this is the gratitude? Outrageous!

Maybe I shouldn't have stuck my nose in. I just not the type of person that does nothing when something is wrong. I'm in the same position as you, I dislike it when you try to help someone and get dumped on.

In my opinion, you went above and beyond in your attempts to assist this person. I posted before thinking about what your state of mind might have been at the time.

I should have chosen my words with greater care. I apologize if you took it the wrong way. That was certainly not my intention.

Have a better day my friend,
Mike
