When I turn off my emachines desktop, I lose the internet connection on my router

That is a common problem with Verizon, especially if you are connected via old copper. Frequently, wet weather causes dropped connections

Need to re-attach power button cable, hard drive

The manual for your computer is available from emachines, p.168 shows the info you need (replacing the front I/O panel)

The good news is that you can't harm the computer by connecting the wires wrong and the bad news is they just won't work the way they are supposed too if not connected properly. The LED's must have the correct polarity to work.
In general, if you look real close (as in magnifying glass and flash light) you will see the ID for each set of pins is printed on the motherboard (pwr, rst,HDD,pwr sw,speaker) Just match what it says on the motherboard to what it says on the wires. Don't worry if you get the polarity wrong. If a light doesn't work just swap the two wires. The colored wires should be positve (+), though. The reset (rst) and power switch (pwr sw) wires don't require polarity.
These instructions are for most computers in general, YMMV.

1 MEMORY SLOT NOT WORKING IN EMACHINES 420

This would be quite unusual, but it could happen.
I assume you have moved the memory sticks around (to test it) and you have used memory you know is good.
I must also assume that you are using the correct kind/speed/size/configuration memory memory sticks.
If my assumptions are correct, you need a new motherboard. You can't fix it.

Emachine t2984 - need to diagram to install power & hard drive

There is 2 main cables you have to worry about to feed power to the system. One looks like a big rectangle block with a mess of wires attached. Make sure he is hooked into the system. Then if its an newer unit you will find a plug that has square look to it with just 4 wires attached and should plug in nearby the processor. (only newer units us this) Also if your dealing with the cant turn it on issue make sure to remove all cards off the board like the NIC, Video Card, and Audio Card. I am unsure as to weather or not your system comes with everything onboard or if its stand alone cards. If you still cant power on theres a bigger issue at hand and that maybe that your motherboard has blown.

Mouse Cursor Frozen

Try putting the computer into safe mode by shutting down the computer. Turn the computer back on. At beginning of the boot process press and hold the f8 button and select safe mode from the menu.

When the safe mode is done booting up, try moving the mouse around. If it works, restart the the computer under normal Windows startup procedures.

If you recently moved your computer from one location to another it might be because a cable inside the system became loose or disconnected, causing you computer to not detect the hard drive. Check all the connection inside the computer.
