Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV9501E Top Load Washer
Our Maytag Atlantis washer is not spinning the water out of the clothes and it's squeaking when it tries to spin. What could be the problem?
This posting is so old you likely have resolved or given up by now. The noise is likly a dry bearing between the inner and outer tubs.
I had this same problem and have resolved it by replacing the bearing and the seals on both sides of the bearing.
Unless you have esperience at taking things apart and putting them back again and are not afraid then you might regret doing so. If confident go ahead. You might be able to replace the bearing (after packing it good with High Temp Grease). Caution: If the shaft the bearing rotates on has been dry long enough to score up the shaft pretty bad you will have to replace the transmission (in which case it is not worth fixing). Good luck!
