Go to control panel then mouse properties and see if it needs to be reconfigured. Sometimes they just change on their own if you are using a mouse as well as the touch pad, remove the mouse (device), then reinstall the Synaptics touch pad software and try setting it up. You may have to turn on that function in touchpad control settings. You can reinstall the touchpad driver, be sure though that it's for your laptop's model.

SOURCE: my scroll feature on the touch pad on my alienware

I've seen this before and I think I know what might have happened.

Of course, I'm guessing, so bear with me.

during an update from Windows website, the touchpad drivers were updated. This was done, in all likelihood, without your knowledge.

Find the touchpad in the Device manager (I'm guessing you know your way around a computer) and look at the properties.

Then, roll back the driver and restart.

good luck.

SOURCE: scroll bar on the right side of my touch pad scrolls too fast how do i slow it down

It depends, do you know if there is an icon down in the taskbar near the clock that has options for your mouse, if there is then you would double click that and there should be options in there.

SOURCE: touch pad scroll bar not working

You say it has been restored so I assume that Windows has been re-installed. If so then it is probably using the generic Windows touchpad driver and you need to update to the specific touchpad driver. Go to HP Website and download the touchpad drivers.

I dont understand where the scroll zone is on my hp mini. Is it actually on the touch pad, and if so where?

If it is on your touch pad it will be indicated with a small vertical bar, on the right hand side. Slide along that to scroll.

If it doesn't work, then the laptop doesnt have one, and you'll have to use the scroll bar at the side of a web page. (double tap but keep hold on the second tap, this indicates holding down a click) then move up or down as required.

Hope this helps,

Andy

Have a Satellite P 305D-S9800; scoll bar will not pull down by mouse or touch pad; as soon as I let go it jumps back to the top please help

The "Touchpad is very sensitive; if you look while scrolling, the "scroll-bar" will turn (Blue), click on the ("scroll-bar"), until it turn "Gray." Note: "You ca use the Pointer Device / Touchpad without using the Scroll-bar, basically anywhere on the screen; ("bottom scroll-pad" = left to right"), and ("right -side edge scroll-pad = up & down").

Scroll bar on asus mouse pad not working

Try removeing any external devices and reboot the unit.
Next, look at your device manager for flags..
Remove any if shown in manager.
Restart the unit.
If you still don't have control of the scroll bar, try booting into safe mode and see if you have control their.
If you still do not have control of the scroll bar, try reloading the drivers for the mouse and touch pad.
Buy any chance do you have a mouse lock or switch on the unit that may be on.
I know, on the center of my touch pad, I have a switch to engage and dis-engagae.

Scoll bar action on touchpad works outside the scroll area

Seems like the synaptic touch pad has lost its configuration or got a little whacky.
Go to the control panel, and find the program for the touch pad.
There, try to redefine the areas for the scroll bar action.

Touch pad issues

Next time you try scrolling on the touch pad, also push down (really) hard on the touch pad(kind of like you're squeezing the player). Keep doing this, and you may get it working. I've dropped mine a few times, and this push/squeeze/scroll seemed to work.
