In Dell Inspiron 1520 Notebook, there is a switch on the left hand side of the laptop to enable/ disable Wifi. Make sure that it is on and with wireless light activated - Press and hold Fn and press F2 (Fn+F2). This will enable the wi-fi and you will be able to detect and connect to a wi-fi network

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

I have a dell Inspiron 1520, it's older, it says

you haven't inadvertantly pressed the keyboard key that urns wireless off have you?
some older network cards are incompatible with the latest encryption so you could try setting the router up to use wep encryption 64bit instead

I recently formatted my system. When i connect my laptop for wifi connection its not getting connected even wifi key is not working. Which drivers should i install. My laptop model is inspiron N5010

You need to redownload the drivers for you inspiron N5010 Go to this link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INSPIRON_N5010&os=W764&osl=en&catid=&impid=

When you get there Then scroll down Then where you see "Operating System", select your operating system (ex: XP, Vista, or Windows 7). It will then show all the drivers for your operating system...scroll down until you see the network driver software and then download and reinstall the Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module and download the Dell Wireless WLAN 1520 Half MiniCard Hopefully this will help...good luck.

Dell insiron 1520 does not respond to driver downloads, to connect to broadband

Make sure it's turned on. Use the Fn plus that antenna looking function key. If still no response, replace the wifi card accessible at the bottom of the laptop.

if you are on a wifi zone it must be detected by your laptop if not maybe your network connection setting for detecting wifi is off. try changing the settings of your network connection. and change it to auto detect the network connections

Wireless connection

by default, dell systems' switch for wireless can be done by pressing Fn and tap F2. The wifi light should lit up. Your modem is integrated to the motherboard. If you were able to lit up the wifi light, this should be able to detect wireless signals for you to connect to.
