It sounds like maybe they gave you and undersized regulator. The other to check would be to look for orifaces inside of the actual gas valves. There will be a number on these valves probably around 40 something if this is the case you need to get orifaces that are around a number 55 but you should check with the manufacturer to be completly sure.

I have Weber Genisi Silver model 8133 which has been hook up to a natural gas line. We have moved to a new location and can only use a propane tank hook up. Do I need a adaption for conversion to...

Unfortunately, you cannot use your Natural Gas Grill on Propane Gas. In addition, there is no conversion kit for Weber Grills. That's why they make two different gas models. Conversion of a grill becomes a safety issue. As each model Weber grill is tested and approved only for the specific gas type. Attempts to convert it voids that approval.

I'm sorry I didn't have better news. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Where can i purchase a weber spirit conversion kit?

Weber no longer offers or support conversion kits. If you do any conversion it will VOID you warranty!

That said, if you can find the parts online for the version of your grill you can convert it yourself if you are mechanically inclined.

You will need to change the JETS and the GAS REGULATOR. Unfortunately they do not sell official Weber Gas Jets alone. You will have to buy the complete Manifold, valves and all as well as the Regulator...

Make sure you are comfortable with all of this... Leak testing etc...

You may have luck finding parts at:

I cannot find a supplier who can provide an LP to nat gas conversion kit for my 4 burner grill made under the name: Ducane, model # 30400040. Can you assist? Marlin

Perhaps, the reason you can't find the fuel conversion parts is that they are not convertible from one fuel type to another. Ducane/Weber makes both an LP model and a Natural Gas model of your grill, but no conversion kits. Because, as the Owners Manual states "Liquid propane gas is not natural gas. The conversion or attempted use of natural gas in a liquid propane unit or liquid propane
gas in a natural gas unit is dangerous and will void your warranty."

http://help.weber.com/manuals/ducane/2009%20Manuals%20pdf/Affinity_3400_4400_NG_OwnersManual_27010342_061008.pdf

Certainly, you could attempt it, Marlin . But it's not the wise thing to do.

I know this wasn't the answer you may have wanted, but I hope it helps you.

How to change a weber natural gas grill to propane

According to Weber, "There is no conversion kit available to convert any Weber gas grill from one gas type to another. Any attempts to do it will void your warranty."

Sorry, but if it's any consolation, Propane Gas burns cleaner and hotter that Natural Gas in an outdoor environment. Which translates into faster preheating and hotter searing temperatures.

Hop e this helps and happy Grilling!!

I need to convert a weber nat. gas grill to propane and i can not find the kit, can you help?

OK - you may not like this answer, but it is what is is :^)

Its common to find kits that convert propane to natural gas (NG) but not the other way around. This is because NG has less energy per square foot than propane, therefore, the holes in your NG grill controls and burners will be bigger to move more gas and get the BTU's you need.

When you convert from propane to NG, you can simply drill the holes bigger and remove the regulator. But the reverse is not practical because you can't make the holes in a NG grill smaller without buying all new burners and control knobs. I guess that's the bottom line - your "kit" is simply to replace the burners and controls with propane-specific parts. You might be better off to just buy a new grill by the time you go through all that. If you have a Weber, their web site has all the manuals and part numbers you would need.

Keep in mind that propane tanks are under higher pressure and you MUST have a regulator. I've heard of some people that simply slap a regulator on their NG grill, but you will not get even burning or proper performance (again because the holes will be too big). In my opinion, it's simply not worth the danger to you or your family.

How do I reconvert my Natural Gas BBQ BACK to LPG?

Hello,
You will need to replace the nat gas orifices with propane ones, as propane orifices have smaller holes than nat gas ones. If you can't find a conversion kit for your grill, take it to a local propane co and have them convert it for you. What I do is drill out the existing orifices on the grill and install a spud, then redrill the spud with the smaller hole for LP-Gas. Then you will need to buy a regulator and hose and a 20# propane cylinder, if you don't have one. You can get those things from the propane co too. Call around first and see if anyone can help you.

NOTE: If your grill data plate isn't marked with the BTU rating of each burner, look at the nat gas orifices and see if there is a number stamped on it. I can reference this number to tell you what BTU rating they are drilled for and use that to redrill for propane. If they are not stamped with a number, then I would use my nat gas orifice drills to gauge what hole size it is. Hopefully you can find a local propane co that carries these orifice drill kits and orifice spuds to get the job done. You didn't mention the grill brand or model #, so I can't help with specifics until I know what you have. I may be able to find a conversion kit online if I knew that info.

Natural gas grill needed to convert to propane

You would need to do the old crank down and flip routine. Crank down all spuds, open shutters all the way and flip the regulator nut to the LP position.
I found an interesting video on youtube which features gas stove conversion. Gas range conversion is basically the same.
