Well I presume you've removed the clear plastic bin as if you were going to empty it. Looking at where it was on the main machine there is a plastic tab you can push up and the top flips back. I have to admit until I'd done it the first time it wasn't obvious. Just remember the filter is about the size of a dunkin donut at the top. The tab is on the side that the clear dust bucket restsso put you finger at the top and run it down where the bucket laid until you find a bit of the plastic that 'just' juts out enough that you can push it firmly up and voila. And boy once you've cleaned the filter what a difference

When you turn the power off on dc08,as the motor slows down you get a pop sound

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC08 is making an unusual noise when you turn it off, this could be the suction relief valve changing position. If the relief valve is activating during use there may be a blockage somewhere in your machine, and the filter may also need a wash.

To check for blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/check-the-floor-tool

In normal use we recommend washing both parts of the pre-filter at least once every 3-6 months, using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both parts of the filter to dry completely before replacing them in the machine.

This should help, but if you continue to have difficulty after giving these steps a try, please contact our experts directly on 0800 298 0298.

Where dos the hepa filter go by on a dyson dc08 animal

Hi there, The HEPA filter in your DC08 Animal is designed to last the lifetime of the cleaner, and should not require attention. Do not try to wash this filter, as this could cause damage. this filter needs washing at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and ensure the filter is completely dry before replacing it. If you have any further queries about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. The machine has just stopped while hoovering, filters were dirty, cleaned them but still not working, checked the fuse.please help, only had it 2years

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC08. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC08 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=300&product=DC08-SY-STD The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 12 hours. By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 - our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action. Kind regards, Jack Dyson Online Customer Support

Relief valve?

Hi,

I had the same problem with my DC08. What I had found is that cleaning the main washable filter will remove the problem. I have a log fire at my place and I have found that the vacuum does not like the dust from the fire. Even though I sweep up any ash before vacuuming, the problem still exists. At times over winter I will have to clean the filter every week as it doesn't take long for the relief valve to start to open. Over summer, I have no relief valve problems at all. Hope this helps.
