Question about SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player

Sansa Clip bad tracks

I had this problem on both my clips (2 and 4 gig). Some songs get corrupted and can't recover them.
I tried formatting the device and the upgraded the firmware. No go.
I tried running the chkdsik routine. Nix.
Otherwise I like it. The new shuffle algorithm is pretty cool.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I have saved your proposed solutions for later use as they are useful for all types of mp3.
    The solution to my particular problem - as someone on the SanDisk forum suggested - is that the Sansa clip cannot handle ID3 tags that are not ID3v2.3. Therefore I will have to edit the individual songs with a different tag type accordingly.
    Incidentally, the rating system does not work. I would happily have given you three diamonds.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Computer willnot recognize sansa clip, Begins coonection and then ends imediately after. I have downloaded wmp 11 and i run xp, help?


ok, look turn your device on and select settings, next you want to find usb mode (wording may vary). select this option and change this setting to msc, i have a 2 gig clip and this seemed to work......if this doesnt work try the mpt setting under the same "usb mode" option.....also when putting songs on your device, make sure the files are in wma format(windows media audio) to do this , see the songs properties, ussually done with a right click on the songs shorcut or logo.....if the file is in mp3 format, open the song in windows media player and open the library tab, highlight what you want to put on your device right click and select send to .....then select audio converter, convert the files then send them to your clip.

My sansa clip 2gb has only 60 songs on it,but it says that it is already completely full.I've tried erasing everything and reseting it. Even with no songs on it it claims that 1.5 gb have already been...


What i would recommend you to do is to format the device and transfer all the songs over..There might be a corruption on your device operating system...and format it should solve the problem you are having..

SANDISK 2GIG no longer plays mp3s


You have to format the player to restore it to normal - unfortunately, it will result in all of your songs being erased, so make sure you have backups. The user's manual has the directions for formatting the player. Later, you will have to reload the songs.

Mp3 players are terrible for jogging, exercise, etc. because sweat can travel down the headphone plug, into the jack, and into the electronics.

"No Song" displayed even though music has been loaded, many times


The songs ripped from CD are not in the right format. In Windows Media Player, highlight the Rip tab, click the black arrow under the Rip tab, select Rip Options --> Format --> Mp3. Now, re-rip the songs. Before you transfer these tracks to the player, make sure you delete the tracks that are on the mp3 player now, or else Windows Media Player wil ltell you that the tracks are already there. Now, transfer the newly-ripped Mp3 tracks to your Sansa. Should be good to go.

Do you no how to reformat?


Formatting your player erases all of the songs that you had stored there. Once erased, there is no way to recover them - you must re-add the files.
