You can drop some WD40 on the outside of the rings. But, before you do that, make sure that you have the height adjustment lock OFF. This is located on the rear of your tonearm, right underneath the balance weight, right on the tonearm base. Just make sure it's in the UNLOCK position.

If it is unlocked, then spray some WD40 along the outside of the tonearm base. One of 2 things either happened:

1) It's just full of grime/grease/dirt, and you need to put some pressure to turn it

2) The threads have gotten misaligned. If this is the case, there is nothing you can do, other than replacing the part. THE PART IS LOCATED HERE. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix, as you will have to take apart your entire tonearm base & assembly. This requires de-soldering. And if you don't have experience than I don't suggest you attempt this on your own.

Try the WD40 first, then see how that works for you.

Good Luck!

Ensure that the turntable is sitting as flat as possible and does not allow any external vibration to penetrate.
Also try operating it without a record on it make sure that the plate is turning smoothly without interruption and also does not have any vibration.

Overtighten causes hazing,and adjusment problem

As a general rule of thumb, If you have normal Weaver-type aluminum rings, you tighten to 10 to 15 inch-pounds. If you have normal Weaver-type steel scope rings, you tighten to 15 to 20 inch-pounds. If it's something exotic and/or expensive, you're pretty much stuck contacting the manufacturer. Leupold Mark 4's require 65 in-lb, for instance.

Wiha makes two adjustable torque screwdrivers (one for lower torque, and one for up to 60 in-lb that are perfect for most any scope ring applications.

Help for technics 1200 MK2 and 1210 Speed is too fast

On the 1200MK2 the pitch control slider is for just that purpose. Disregard the 0 setting and use the illuminated strobe marks on the platter to adjust to nominal speed. When they appear to be motionless you are there. The control on the 1210 may be a knob but the same principles apply.

SL-1200 MK2 Tone Arm Oxidized and Height Adjust

X1N may I suggest a few drops of mineral oil, the bottlels you find in the local grocer store. Once applied let soak for mabe 2 to 3 hours. Wipe or sponge away oxidation. The soaking may take longer. View the working one very closely to compare to the troubled one. The controls may accepte repositioning to the correct position now. If you got the guts study the assembley and make notes of you disassembley procedure, the problem may just need some realignment internally. I hope this helped.

Technics sl 1210 MK2 does not start

Your switch probably went bad. Does it not respond at all? Does the button at least 'bounce' back when you press it? If not, then you might have messed something up when putting it back together.
