SALTON MINI HEATER MODEL NO,SGH10

Bought the above mentioned product end of last winter. We have a problem lighting the gas heater the first few times it lite okay the one panel is not burning as good as the other one, then when we wanted to light it again it would not light it is as if the gas is not going through to the burners. Is it possible that you have an answer for us

I have salton coffee/espresso machine and the espresso stopped working but then last saturday it worked again for eight days and now it has stopped again


I would try contacting Salton at http://www.salton.com/customer-care. If the item is still under warranty you should have no issues.

When the heater is on there is a smell from the gas. Is this dangerous? What causes the smell?


How strong is the smell?
The smell is usually caused because the heater to turn on the flame has to emit a bit of gas first, and then a spark is made by the heater to make the flame burn, which in turn causes the rest of the flame in the heater to heat up the water.
If it is a constant smell, then I suggest you immediately turn off the heater and stop gas flow to the heater (should have a valve close by) and call the numbers that are shown on the unit. They will help you from there.

I have a Hamilton Beach model 45234 and recently noticed that the base remains warm to touch whenever plugged in. Is this normal/safe?


Yes, to a degree.
There is no hotplate in the stainless-carafe pots...only glass carafes need a heater.

Heat is transferred through the frame from the pump heater, as well as through the plastic base of the carafe.

This means of course, that a few hours after brewing, the base should be cool...and if it is obviously too warm more than 2 hours after brewing, then leave it un-plugged until it can be replaced.

Not too long ago, coffee pots were the #1 cause of house fires...and they're still in the Top 5 causes:
Don't take un-necessary chances.

*On a personal note: I owned this same model in 2009, and loved it...but it lasted no more than 6 months. Looks good, great features, but poorly made. (I had it open 4 times before giving up on fixing it again.)

I'm not positive from your description, but it sounds like you have a product form Salton, Inc, who currently owns a number of brands including Faberware (various food appliances), George Foreman (grills), Juiceman, etc.

If this is correct, contact the manufacturer (Salton, Inc.) customer service site for parts or manual. If they don't have them, they should know where to send you (though if they don't, I'd seriously wonder about the company). Most manuals these days are multi-lingual, and so I would expect them to be able to either provide you with instructions in French, or refer you to a source.
