Gas dryernot heating up

My gas dryer will not heat up since I cleaned around the lint trap. The lint catcher is at the front of the dryer, instead of on top. I don't see anything that's loose, including the natural gas connection.

It was a brush from a dryer cleaning kit. The lint trap is at the bottom, in from of the drum. My neighbour got it working briefly, by taking it all apart, and we cleaned everything we could see. But now it doesn't work again; I'll check to see if the diagram shows where the sensor is.

Hi,

try and reset the motherboard by unplugging power and waiting a few minutes and plug back in. What did you clean your dryer with?
If it was sharp you may have nicked a sensor, buy the wiring diagram and study away. Use caution with gas of course, shut it off look for shutoff , the flexible lines are brittle, be careful take time.

My gas dryer runs forever without making any heat. The timer doesnt advance at all. The air flows great just no heat. On a VERY rare ocassion there is a little heat but hardly ever.

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....
Good Luck!!

Clothes not getting dry

sounds like perhaps you are losing your heating element...could be electronic, but it's most likely the actual element needs to be replaced...

I have a Maytag neptune dryer model # MDE5500AY. I smelled a smokey and electrical smell tonight. What's going on? Lint catcher is clean and I also clean around dryer. House was built in 2004 and dryer is...

the fault is lint build up around the dyer element the element must be cleared of all lint after years of use despite having a catcher lint does get into the dryer in time it will build around the heating element and start to burn this is unsightly but more so very dangerous as it does cause house fires have the element cleaned

best of luck
