HDMI Cables not working

Steps

1. Step 1 Check for an HDMI port Check the back of your television for an HDMI port and refer to your owner's manual for your television's resolution. A resolution of 1080p offers the highest quality.
   
2. Most PS3 systems support 1.3 HDMI, but older systems may need a software update from the 1.1 or 1.2 version.
   
3. Step 2 Disconnect cables Disconnect all the cables and adapters from the back of your PS3, and then unplug your TV to reduce the risk of shock as you work.
   
4. Step 3 Connect HDMI cable Connect the HDMI cable. Reconnect the power cables on both the TV and the PS3 system.
   
5. Step 4 Hold power button Hold down the power button until the PS3 beeps and continue holding it for an additional five seconds until the system makes a second beep.
   
6. The Playstation 3 should detect the high definition cable and automatically adjust the settings to give you the best picture and sound possible.
   
7. Step 5 Test the connection Test the connection. If the HDMI cable isn't working, turn everything off and reconnect the original cables to manually change the settings.
   
8. Step 6 Adjust the settings Turn the system back on, select Settings, Display Settings, Video Output Settings, and then HDMI. Repeat the process for your Audio Settings. You can now experience your games with the highest video and audio quality available.
   

You may have to go into the TV setup menu and change a setting for Sound (or Audio) that tells the TV which input to use (HDMI or component) for sound. Usually the HDMI connection will work automatically but if you connect cables to Audio L/R that may override the HDMI sound input.

Your display needs to be reset, Turn the ps3 off. Then turn the ps3 back on but continue to press the power button until you hear the beeps then it should work fine :)

As for your PS3 I had simillar issue, the PS3 doesn't Automattically adjust from analog, to component, to HDMI. If you get a signal thru the Reg RCA plugs, if you plug in the HDMI cable at the same time, then go to the system settings and change the type of plug you want to use, choose the HDMI, and the screen should flicker then show the signal from the HDMI, then just power off and/or unplug the analog cables, and you are using HDMI. hope this helps, if so thanks for the ratings

The problems with HDMI are plentiful. They are still hashing out the standards for it, and every company seems to be doing their own thing. The compatibility issues are never ending, and you may be a victim.

It sounds like the Blu-Ray and the TV are having compatibility issues. You can try changing resolution settings inside the Blu-Ray to see if it helps. If not, you might be stuck using Component cables. LG televisions are not the most well-constructed or designed tv's in the world, so if the optical output is not working, your Digital Board might have an issue, as well. Any competent TV repair shop should be able to assist you in troubleshooting and repair, if necessary.

hi i had a problem, but had no pic, but did have sound, rang sony, and they said buy a new hd cable, went out and bought one, and it worked fine!!!

I had the same problem and I managed to solve it. It was because the HDMI was set to 1080i and my TV isn't HD. Default HDMI is 480p. You can check your current HDMI setting on the front panel of your DVD. There should be a button with the words "HDMI select". Next to it there should be 3 values. If the current one (a green light shows which one is selected) is not 480p, change it. To change it, make sure your sd-5000 is on, but not reading a DVD. The press the "HDMI select" button on the front panel until the selected one is 480p. This worked for me.

(I had the same same problem without the reading slowly part. On one TV, the sound and video weren't working, and only the video wasn't working on another TV)

which AV connection are you using? HDMI or the cable supplied with the PS3, If using HDMI, you have to set the PS3 visual settings to HDMI, to do this, use the cable supplied with the PS3, and have the HDMI cable plugged in. Then while using the cables supplied with the PS3, switch the settings over to HDMI, then change the TV's input selector to your HDMI and confirm the settings changes. Hope it helps take care
