Unfortunately I have a Whirlpool Calypso washer.I noticed that the clothes were coming out of the washer with completely dry spots on some of them.It appears to me that the recirculation pump is not working. The tub stays dry until the rinse cycle when the water is dispensed from the top.The pump drains the water fine but does not spray into the tub during the wash cycle. Please help.

Re: Whirlpool Calypso Washer
At this point i hate to do this but if yo want a free replacement you have to contact whirlpool. this was involved in a class action lawsuit and they are making the repairs for free. otherwise replacing the pump is simple and you can get them off ebay for really cheep. :)

It's hard to tell by your description of the problem, but it sounds like it could be the timer If it's not running while in spin mode, or as simple as a belt if it's running and not spinning fast enough.
1. Turn off the water supply to both hoses. 2. Remove hoses (one at a time so you don't get them confused) 3. On the washer side - look for a removeable screen inside wher you just removed the hose. 4. Using a small screwdriver - pop out the screen and reverse-flush it/clean it. It will likely be full of sediment and calcium deposits from your pipes. 5. Replace the inlet screens. 6. Re-fit the hose to the machine. 7. Turn on water supply valves. 8. re-try.

sorry to hear you got one of these. they stopped making that model because of multiple problems. I have seen the lint issue come up with these over and over w/o a solution. I can say if you are not using a dryer to dry getting one will help.
When changing a pressure switch on a calypso you have to be sure the tub is empty. blow air into the hose to clear, also observe for moisture where the hose connects to the tube for a pin hole leak in the tube.
I can assure you this IS a common problem. I can't tell you how many customers I have had in the past that complained about their Calypso's leaving the same marks on their clothing. The problem occurs because of the suction on the clothes as the washer extracts water from them during the final nunator cycle. The nunator is the wash plate that the clothes get caught in. The manufacturer's cure for this problem was to come up with a modified control board that reduces the final nunator time and minimizes the suction action on your clothing. The replacement control board part number is 8571359. I have ordered and installed this board on a few Calypso's. I'm surprised that nobody advised you of this in the past. If you call Whirpool back and they deny this, I got this information from them. It may be worth your while to contact them again to see if there is a recall on this and if they would cover the cost of the repairs.
Have you checked the agitator? There may be sharp edges on the agitator blades. OR the towels may be getting stuck under the agitator and tub bottom. The agitator is supposed to suck the clothing down in the center and forcibly throw the clothing outwards against the tub. The cycle then repeats.
