How do I change the display resolution on the control panel ABOVE the maxed out resolution shown so I can use a 17' screen which requires 1280x10xx? When I try to use any 17" monitor, a message comes up "recommended resolution is 1280x10xx" and then the screen locks up.

Hi,

On a 17ins monitor the best resolution is 1024x768 regardless of whether it tells you a different "recommended" display resolution.

Just ignore any warning it gives you and it should work very well with the resolution i've told you, just use the slider to select the 1024x768.

Regards.

Can I increase the screen resolution on my EV700B monitor higher than 800x600? How?

Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab - Screen Resolution move the slider to the right to increase the screen resolution.
If you cannot increase the screen resolution, it means the correct video driver was not installed generic VGA driver was installed.
In this case install the video driver for your graphics card and change the screen resolution.

Having changed the os from xp to xp pro i am unable to alter the screen resolution. Any help appreciated.

Go into control panel, click display, settings on the top right, set the color quality at max and the screen resolution also at max, click okay to save settings and monitor should adjust accordingly, if not set monitor to auto setup.

I want to run a software which requires a screen resolution of 1280 x 768 but my Samsung SyncMaster 740nw supports up to 1280 x 700 screen resolution. Is there anything that I can do? Please guide.

Have you tried adjusting the screen resolution in Control Panel - Display - Settings and moving the slider on Screen resolution?
Normally a monitor such as Samsung LCD would be able to display a higher resolution.
If you cannot adjust the Screen resolution in Display - Settings then it may be that the correct video driver was not installed or is corrupted.
To check if the video diver is OK, go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager and click on Display adapter. Check that your display adapter is OK and working. If you see a yellow ? against the video adapter or a standard VGA adapter was installed then you need to re-install the video driver for your model graphics card.

We have just bought an LG 23 inch monitor. Everything okay on it except for the proper resolution. The monitor no. is W2343T. I have put the resolution of 1920 x 1080 and frequency of 60 hertz on it as...

I think the problem is going to be in the Windows software, and not the settings on the monitor. Not sure which type of computer or which Windows you're running, but get into control panel, monitor settings and see what you can do. Windows help and support might be able to assist you.
Here's an excerpt from ncix.com:
Cons Clumsy front panel controls
Vertically, picture is no larger than my old 17"
May require video card upgrade for higher resolutions
Front panel illuminated power button is distracting
Summary Overall, I really like this monitor. But don't expect a size increase vertically over a 17" display. I actually lost half an inch. I prefer a 16:10 aspect ratio so I'm not actually using the full wide available. If you're like me you can save some change and go for the 2243.

Go to the Control Panel and click on Display, the the Settings tab. then change the screen resolution to 1024 X 768 or higher resolution.
