Question about D-Link DSL-G604T Wireless Router
I have had a G604T working perfectly for 8 months I use my main PC and wireless laptop on it at the same time, but in the last two weeks the ADSL light/link drops out for a few seconds and then reconnects. Sometimes it's like every 10 minutes and other times every couple of hours I contacted Xtra who told me the cable between the modem and jack were at fault, I changed the cable, moved the router to the first jack in the house in case it was the jack I usually use. but it still does it. The phones seem ok, Could it be either the router needs replacing, the phone line has a problem or the phone jack? Don't want to get a new router in case it is not the problem.
You can try something to narrow down where the problem is. Plug your pc directly into your modem and unplug your router altogether. This will not allow you to use you other computers on the internet. Don't worry you only have to do this for 4 or 5 hours. If the pc remains on net and you have no glitches then you might want to think about getting a new router. Since the router worked fine for 8 months, I wouldn't think the settings got changed. Routers aren't perfect pieces of equipment, I have had to purchase 3 in 4 years.
