When I take the computer out of the standby mode

Try this:
  1. Update the BIOS and Video driver to the most current on http://support.dell.com
  2. Disable the screen saver
  3. Enable HIBERNATE instead of standby in Power settings, set the LCD to go off in 10 minutes, HDD to 15 and Hibernate in 20.
Select Shutdown, Hibernate
then try and restart

If no GO, disconnect all peripheral items except KB

Try hibernate again and restart.

If all works OK, add items back one at a time till you find item causing issue. If no go, replace power supply if issue still occurs, replace MB

You probably have a sticking hibernate, or sleep button. Near the hinge, there is a tiny pin looking thing sticking up. When you shut the computer, this presses against a switch below the case and puts the computer into sleep or hibernate mode. If this sticks, it won't boot up right. Shut the computer down and use canned air to blow out at the pin opening to clear any debris.

Dell E173FP Monitor requires unplugging/plugging back in to wake

Perhaps your computer is hibernating instead of going into standby which takes a little longer to wake up from. While you are playing plugs and cables it give it enough time to come out of hibernation.

When the computer is in this mode the USB ports turn off which disables keyboard and mouse so the only way to wake up the computer is to press the power button on the computer itself.

One tell tale sign a computer is in hibernation is that the power light on the computer will slowly blink.

I hope this helps.

No active standby button, hybernate facility not found.

In the control panel, go to performance and maintenance then click power options. Or, right click the desktop and select the screen saver tab, then click the power button. If the hibernate tab is missing, either your hardware does not support standby/hibernation mode, or it is disabled in the BIOS. If the hibernate tab is available, click Enable hibernation to do you know what.

Monitor keeps hibernating, can't make it stop, pixel issue.

Hey,

I think this is more of a problem on your computer instead of the monitor, ofcourse you could try another monitor and see if the same happens. I suspect your computer goes into standby or hibernation on its own, and it does work fine if you reset the computer right?

if you go into power management again, disable or turn off hibernation completely, its on one of the pages.
Make sure its not set to standby, and also disable your screen saver.

Right click on desktop - properties - then screensaver. turn it to none.

Also you could look into the computer bios and make sure its not set to standby or hibernation from there. thats unlikely but you could check.

how to get into bios.. depends on the computer, right when you turn it on, on one of the corners of the screen you will get a message, press button to enter setup or bios. press that to enter bios when its presented.

look around the bios and poweroptions.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Sound stops suddenly

Alright, so wait, explain that again, It stops working when your using it, or when it goes into standby?

It starts working again after what? When you come out of standby?

When going into standby, the system goes on low power may cut the power to your speakers.

Check your Power settings.

RIGHT CLICK on DESKTOP> Select properties, Go to screen saver Tab and click on the Power button, then check all the power options such as when it goes into standby, how long till it does and adjust them to your preferences, also make sure Hibernation is turned off as well, when it goes into Hubernation, it cuts almost everything.

Give this a try and let me know,
good luck

Computer does not stay in hibernation or standby mode

That happen because on the stand by or hibernate setting the time was setting in 5 minutes.
Go to Control Panel >> Display >> Screen Saver >> Power

And set the time right there as your preferences.

Notebook utilities

If you are using Windows XP then go to Screen Saver tab of Display properties. There you can turn on hiberation under the Power Setting command.
The shortcut to it is when you click "turn power off' and you get Standby, turn off and Restart buttons. Now press the shift key, the standby button will change to Hibernate.

Sudden Shutdown/Hibernate

right click anywhere on an empty space on desktop and click on properties in the menu ( or go to control panel and double click on display).

Now in the display property windows click  on screen saver and then click on power at the bottom right.

you will then get the power schemes option where you can change the settings for hibernation , standby etc, adjust it such that your system never hibernates automatically.
