Yes,

Plug it into a wall, turn the beeps to off, plug in a desk or table lamp, unplug the UPS from the wall and let it drain down to nothing with the lamp on. You may want to time this. This is how you break in a new battery too.

After its completely dead, unplug the lamp, plug it into the wall outlet and let it charge backup again.

You should not get the error message.

Now, if the error message is from your PC and you have the USB cable attached. Remove the USB cable from the UPS to the PC. using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel remove teh UPS software, have the UPS disc on hand first. Reboot. when you get your desktop, install the UPS software and do not attach the USB cable until told to do so or until the installation is complete and you have rebooted the PC. Reboot after installation whether it tells you to or not. During the system restart, plug the USB cable back in. You should be fine. If you continue to see this reporting error, download a program update for you UPS.

Lights flash, horn blows, wipers jump across windshield, plugged in scanner to check for codes and it just comes back with connection error.

Make sure battery has a full charge, take actual voltage reading across battery posts, everything off. The generic spec for full charge is 12.6 volts or higher. If the battery is down, we can't do any testing.
Pin 16 at your data link connector has to have voltage, pins 4 and 5 are grounds.
Have you tried scanner on different vehicle to see if the scanner works ok?

I charge the battery and mark it's full charge, but on the scooter the indicator don't mark is full charge and when you drive, the speed just suddenly will drop and come back ok.

Charging batteries to full means leave on charge for 12 -16 hours as it may show charged but the charger goes into what is called a battery conditioning mode where a small trickle charge takes place to fully charge batteries. Again, how old are batteries and have you had them load tested at all?

Battery might be faulty or the powering/charging module. Some contacts between battery and netbook might also be broken. Check the connections and some how to load the battery to empty it.

APC Back-UPS ES500. Battery is new replacement UB1280, and battery has charge and runs fine if unit not plugged in. However, if unit is plugged in to power back-up side outlets in unit don't work.

there are 2 parts of a UPS .
the charge side
and (battery is obvious)
the inverter side.
if the charger fails, all is lost. (are the batteries in backwards?)
if the charger works (volt meter tells you that)
then the inverter is bad. (this unit is not full time UPS , but part time, this means it switches over to inverter at power fail.
(on full time sys. inverter runs full time, like the name states)
the unit, you mean the load right.?
the UPS side plugged into a load. and the load is now dead.

the Backup plugs should work if the mains are hot.
if you kill mains, the inverter will fire off, (hear the squeal?)
and give you 500 watts for some minutes, sucking the batteries dry. (see load run time curves)
I used to do service on HUGE UPS systems, some with 100s of batteries. 3 to 5kw too.
on ours there is a port on the rear , we connect and can
check everything "BEST brand" even charge voltage.
did you look on APC site for special software and connections?

the manual does cover trouble shooting, ever read that?
RTM? start there, its online, for sure.

I filled my gas tank with regular gas and 5 mins later the check engine light came on and the low fuel light came on. I turned the car off and let it sit for an hour. I made sure the gas cap was on...

Im faily certain you have a problem with your fuel sending unit. Im not sure how common that is with Chevy Malibus but i replaced that in my 98 jeep cherokee and that did the trick.

I have a new battery. For how long should I charge it?

Overnight for the first charge, then let it run empty.

The biggest mistake most people make is to use the camera for an hour or so, and then plug it back into the charger...Batteries have a memory of sorts, and eventually this habit causes the batt to only last for an hour or 2.

Rechargeables need to be stretched out and used to their full potential, inorder to realize their full potential.

After the first full charge-full discharge cycle, let it charge for 4-8 hours (depending on the type, charger, and manufacturer's specs, of course) and then allow it to sit for a few hours after use (to cool down) before putting it on the charger.

My K810i phone doesnt turn on..

let it sit in the charger for 1hour then try to turn on your phone. it could be that the charger cannot charge the battery and turn on the phone at the same time and the battery is too weak to turn it on and needs a better charge.

I have two questions. I have a 1990 4.2 liter Jeep Wrangler. It was sitting for 2 years and would jump but not charge. I replaced the alternator. Now it will charge but only to about 8-10 on the gauge....

well if u didnt yet buy a new battery. Batteries can only be charged so many times. With new alternator and battery it should be fine. Now with it sitting for 2 years im sure the radiator needs to be flushed. Change belt. Then empty the radiator fluid and run fresh water though it. I usually leave the drain plug out stick the garden hose in and let the water run with engine off till it comes out clean. But what you should do is empty it. put drain plug back in.Fill it with just plain water run it for a little while 20-25 min. let it cool. empty it again and it should clean it out. then fill it the 50/50 way. They also sell radiator cleaner. Water pump usually leaks when its bad.
