A friend of mine gave me a link off the internet and I down loaded it. I installed the patch:

Media Player (Xvid MPEG-4 Video Codec)

It worked ok, it was Codec for Media Player approx 600 kB.

Thankyou for your help but I didn't have to try it.

    Regards, ipek.

This is a codec error. I can send you a link to a full codec package to download and install.

Click on this link, select a download site and when its done, click run form the download folder. Take all the defaults while installing.

It also installs a program called Media Player Classic that is a player only. It will play anything.

But this package installs all codecs you should need if that fails to solve your problem let me know by using the comment box below and we'll try the Microsoft package but I hate to use it.

I thought about just sending you the Microsft Patch, but the one link I gave you is a full system wide update of codecs.

You may want to click on it and then bookmak the link so you can access it again later should another codec fail you.

    Thanks.

Don't know if your still reading these comments Glen but I downloaded the Media Player Classic off the link you have posted and it fixed my cood10d1 problem.
You have saved me an expensive visit to the Comp Shop.

    Kindest Regards

Windows media player throws error when I play any audio

As you may have already notice, there isn't a problem with your driver.
However to gain a better understand the problem you rule out a couple of things. However, if the this problem is only present in windows media player. Then you should try another play i.e. VLC media player.

1. Go to you device manager and make sure the device is working properly. If not try uninstalling the device, restarted the computer letting windows discover the device again.

2. Next go to windows media player file (press "alt" key to get toolbar in newer version. Select options -> devices select your speaker -> properties and be sure that your audio device is available and selected.

3. Finally if all these options has failed, please use an alternative media like the one mention above (VLC media player).

I hope this have been a great help in your troubles. Please provide feedback on the solution.

is it showing when using media player? that is a codec problem, try to download a free codec for your WMP. or download VLC media player to use it instead of WMP.

Media center does not play cds or dvds please help

You have to check your CD/DVD Rom to make sure the device is not faulty.

Open your Windows Explorer, insert any CD/DVD to see whether your CD/DVD is able to read the the disk.

If it cannot read the disk, most probably the CD/DVD rom is faulty and you have to replace it.

Audio CD s fine. DVDs picture only.

Hi Sir,
The problem is with the codec that is require to play sound. You can resolve this by playing your DVD in another player like VLC media player or you will have to install the latest codec pack which supports major Audio and Video formats.

Following are the links to download both the VLC media player and K-Lite mega codec pack-
Download any one of them and install on your system.I am pretty sure this will resolve your problem.

To Download VLC media player -

Hi there
Is this problem with windows media player only or with rest players also.
You try to repair your media player using your XP installation CD and then install a good codec pack such as XP codec pack or K-Lite codec pack. These are available for free .
Hope this works for you.

Waiting for your thanks.
