I think you mean the 2wire 2701 Rev A with white front and gray sides? If so there isn't a way in the router to generically disable all movie and music downloads, but if what you mean is that you want to block torrent or p2p downloads from a know client you can do that very easily by simply blocking the port in the firewall on either the router or the operating system.

Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

In need of a user manual for SBG6580 wireless router

The User Manuals for many of the Motorola modems and gateways are available from Motorola on their support site: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Consumer-Support/Cable-Modems-and-Gateways . Select your model. On the next page, use the drop down menu to select User Manual in the Select A Topic drop-down menu. Then click Search. The direct link to the manual for the SBG6580 is http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Support/US-EN/Home-and-Office/Cable-Modems-and-Gateways/SBG6580-SURFboard-Wireless-Cable-Modem-Gateway/Documents/Static-Files/SURFboard_SBG6580_UserGuide.pdf . Note you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the file.

I hope this helps.

In a situation like this it's most likely you have come across a virus, whether it be a trojen, worm, ect. Backup all your important files from your computer, documents, pictures, movies, music. Once this is done, reinstall your copy of Windows XP, and make sure you have a good anitvirus, malware, and spyware programs I recommend using either Avira Anti-Virus or AVG for virus protection, Malware Bytes for malware, and Super Anti Spyware for spyware, all of which can be obtained freely. You can find these programs on www.filehippo.com Just search for them, and you can download them from this site. Install your protection after installing XP, then run a scan on your backup data before you put it back onto the computer, just in case any of these files may be infected!

Receiver shuts off when we are watching a movie, usually about 10 min after the movie starts...the receiver shuts off and the movie is still running?????????????

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

In other words, large demands on the amp. You don't say if it was actually LOUD in the room - or straining. Movie soundtracks, unlike non-classical music, are VERY dynamic.

Gateway laptop with DL/dvd burner, burning problem, it stops at 5% and ends with burn fail. i tried all writing softwares under winxp , win 7.

What are you trying to copy? Data? Music? Movie clips? The only thing I can think of is to make sure that what you're trying to copy isn't bigger than what the DVD can hold. That will definitely cause the problem you are describing.

If that's not the case, make sure you do in fact have a DVD in there instead of a CD. Also, make sure your program is set up to copy to DVD instead of CD. You might have hit an arrow and inadvertently set it to CD.

You might also want to try reading a DVD. Do you have any problems reading one?

Make sure also that there are no fingerprints on the disk you're copying to, and try it with three or four different disks.

Or try disconnecting your modem, then turning off your virus checker, and copying it again to see if the virus program is blocking something.

Firewall issue?

Yes this is possible you can turn off the fire wall or you can open up the port your down loading program uses to communicate with its peers. in the menu I believe you will find a tab for port forwarding. They may even list the program you are using. in any event here is a link on port forwarding that may help: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Actiontec/GT704-WGv2/BitTorrent.htm Subsittute your ports for the one on the web page and you should be connected in no time.
