Question about Kodak EasyShare Z650 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera got damp (not even wet) & now won't turn on.

My Kodak Z650 was in my camera bag at disneyland. We went on a water raft ride and the bag got wet. The inside of the bag seemed dry but the camera did get some moistier in it and would not turn on. Have let it sit to dry but still won't turn on. How can I fix this problem.

    Thanks Jerry,

Thought that's what you would say but was worth a try before I send it to Kodak.

    Thanks Again,

It is possible that the there is still some water inside and it will not evaporate because it is enclosed. Even if the water evaporates, it may leave some conductive residue. The water may be on some circuit boards and inside some connectors.

If the camera is worth servicing, I would not recommend that you open the camera yourself and un-assemble the boards and connectors to clean everything. If you are not experienced at this type of work, it is very easy to do more damage from handling the boards and connectors. These cameras are very delicate inside.

There is the other aspect, that if the water got on to some sensitive components on the circuit board, there can be some damage to the the parts. The water being conductive can act like a short and cause permanent damage. The fix in this case would be to change the circuit board(s) that are in failure.

Your best bet would be to give the camera to the manufacture service rep to have an estimate for repair. If your camera is under warranty, and they find water damage inside, the warranty will be void.

Next time you go water rafting or out in the rain with your camera, make sure you get a model that you can invest in the water-proof kit for your camera. It will be a lot cheaper than fixing the camera or buying a new one.

I can't get my Kodak EasyShare Z650 to turn on. I changed the batteries, but still not working. I forgot it on the covered porch at my mom's overnight and am wondering if that is why it isn&#

Try this: take out the memory card, then try to turn on the camera.
My camera would not turn on even with new batteries. For a while I have been having issues with uploading as well. Suddenly it would no longer upload by plugging the camera into the laptop. However, taking out the memory card and plugging it directly into the laptop worked.
The last time I did that, I put the memory card back into the camera while the camera was off. Then the camera would not turn on. I took the memory card back out, then turned on the camera and it came on just fine. Then I put the memory card back in with the camera on. So far so good.

I had my nikon s4000 in a zip lock bag INSIDE a ziplock bag and went rafting....I fell in the water and some water got into the bag with the camera. First solution is-never take a camera on a rafting trip...

Yes, i second you on the first solution...

But, now that it is done already, we need to try something else to resolve theproblem.

OK, firstly you will need to understand that water damage is a very bad thing. That is why the brand companies don't give warranty on this particular problem.

OK, firstly, you need to take out the battery and the memory card.

Place the camera in a sealed container filled with 2 cups of rice. Keep in the container for about 48 hours.

If this does not work, it is most probably a circuit error, die to water damage.

Please let me know if this works. Also, do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Kodak Z650 won't turn on.

If you have an EasyShare printer dock or AC adapter, try those. If not, you will have to have it repaired, unless your battery is dead or the connections in the battery bay have a foreign object or corrosion blocking the connection.

Camera won't turn on

You were camping Huh! In a Tent My guess Damp Damp is the death of digital cameras. Take batteries out. Find a large poly bag- preferably with a snap lock zip type thing- Get hold of some of those little sachets of Silica Gel Or a cloth bag and fill with rice and salt. This will absortb moisture. Pull all in the poly bag somewhere gently warmf or a couple of days. Do Not turn the camera on.
