Windows xp will not turn on

I turn the pc on and it goes through the memory test and then gets to reboot from cd and turns self off.  Have tried with or without the xp cd in and also tried pushing f8 before anything comes up on screen.  I am currently working on a mac to try to find a solution.

I need you to go to your setup screen this is accomplished by either pressing the f2 key or the f10 key when the computer starts booting. Hard drive has bad sectors. Before your replace your hard drive when getting this error, try this- Boot from a Windows XP CD and choose Repair at the first prompt to get the recovery console. Type "chkdsk c: /p/r" at the prompt. Repeat until there are no errors found. Exit and reboot. It worked for me.

My evo610c would not start and failed the HDD self test. I installed a new hard drive. It now passes the HDD self test, but will not go past the screen that says "not-system disk, replace and try again"....

Put the Windows CD disk into the CD-drive.
Turn the computer off.
Turn the computer on, and immediately look for a message like "press F12 to change boot order", or something like that. Tell the computer to first try to boot from the CD-drive. When it boots, the installation process will start.

Laptop wont start windows xp pro. goes to a blue

Take one memory stick out and test. Then do the other. Also checking each memory slot.

If not solved. When the computer starts, continually press F8 until you get startup menu- select SAFE MODE and fix the driver or software that is in startup
or

Roll back to last known configuration that worked.

While you are there- disable Auto Reboot on Failure.

Ok what you might try is get a new hard drive and install windows on there and see what happens. Also if you are able to before you try a new hard drive you should do a system restore and restore it back to the day that windows was installed.

It is a problem with either your memory manager or a dll file most likely. If you have an install disk run the memory test on it. This may be called the WIndows memory diagnostic tool or something similar. Often when it reboots it will come up fine again and keep on doing so. If its a corrupt dll you will need to repair windows using an XP system disk or recovery CD/DVD. Hope this helps.

Cant start windows after RAM upgrade

Download or get a memory test utility that boots from some device (a floppy, flash drive or CD-ROM) that your PC can read. Run that test to confirm the installed memory is good/compatible. Loose memory modules and PC boards can be zapped just by touching the connector pins while you handle them. During removal or installation you have to frequently touch the machine's frame or wear an ESD strap before handling the module, to prevent this.

Power supply can be your issue , when windows boots from CD it a mear dos-mode boot , If it was motherbaord problem it wouldn't boot at all . If you move power supply to test the motherboard issue just make sure it enough power to boot the other motherboard ( some pwer supplies can boot all motherboards )
