Question about Olympus Digital Cameras

I just got the olympus 850 sw and one of the reasons I got it was for the panorama feature. I have the right xd card to unlock it, but I can only get the pc option to work. What setting does it need to be on to unlock the camera 1 panorama option

Same problem, I have a new Styylus 850 SW and a new Olympus XD Card that supports panorama function. When in automatic mode you can not select the panorama feature at all. When in SCN mode you can select panorama but only in "Combine in PC" ...."Combine in Camera" features can not be selected.

Spin the selection wheel to "camera" mode. Press th middle "function/ok" button on the back. the first selection is AUTO or P "program". The default is AUTO...change it to PROGRAM. It needs to be in PROGRAM for it to work. I just figured it out...it works great. Good Luck!

Panorama Feature on Olympus Stylus 840

Forget the in-pano function and use a free stitching program off the internet. When shooting panoramas, you need to be in aperature priority or manual mode so as to keep the exposure consistant, especially going into the sun or away from it in your pictures. Although this is good practice, it is not needed for a few stitch programs as they average out all the exposures and make the entire pic uniform. This works pretty good in all but the most demanding exposure swings.

How to activate panorama?

Panorama shooting lets you create a panoramic picture, using the OLYMPUS
Master software from the provided CD-ROM. An Olympus xD-Picture Card is required for Panorama shooting. If the card is a Fuji xD card then the panorama feature would be disabled to you.

Xd card type

A Fuji card can be used in the camera; the only function that will be disabled is if you wish to take panorama shots with the camera. Panorama in the Olympus cameras is proprietary therefore in order to shoot panorama shots Olympus requires that you specifically use their xD picture card. Otherwise the Fuji card will work just fine.

I have the Olympus SP-570UZ. I can't get the panoramic function to work. I am using a 2mb xd-picture card.

In order to use the panorama feature in any Olympus camera the xD card you are using must be an Olympus card. If it is any other make of card panorama will be disabled.

I have a Stylus 850 SW and cannot figure out from the manual how to get to the panorama mode

aprmaejun,

I don't believe this is the solution Icritchi is looking for. The issue (that I also have) is that the panorama mode cannot be selected at all, no matter what setting the dial is on. I've read in one post on Yahoo that this is because the camera needs to have an Olypmus XD memory card (and not one from another manufacturer). Furthermore, the adapter that Olympus provides for a micro-sd card also does not allow you to use the panorama setting. This is complete bulls*it on Olympus's part. What were they thinking!?

Panoramic Pictures

If I remember my last Olympus camera it would only work in Panorama mode with an official Olympus memory card. No third party cards would enable that feature. My instructions read "An Olympus xD-Picture Card is required for panorama shooting." If you are using an official Olympus xD-Picture card, there may be a problem with your camera.
