I am using a dell laptop so i hope replacing video card in your laptop uses the same steps(checkout):-

  • Remove the battery from the laptop.
  • Unplug the AC adapter.
  • Lay the LCD screen flat down.
  • Remove the front bezel on your laptop using a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry it loose.
  • Unscrew the keyboard screws.
  • Carefully push the keyboard forward, then lift it off the laptop. It is not necessary to remove the keyboard completely.
  • Remove the LCD ribbon connector by gently pulling on the tag.
  • Remove the four screws that hold the video card in place.
  • Lift the video card out of the laptop.
  • Place the new video card in place.
  • Replace the four screws.
  • Re-attach the ribbon connector for the LCD.
  • Replace the keyboard and screw back into place.
  • Replace the front bezel on the laptop.
  • Replace the battery and power up the computer.
hope they surely work for you.

You cannot replace the video card on a laptop, they are built-in on the motherboard.

Sony VAIO PCG-392L screenwith striped colors

Hook a spare monitor to the video output of the laptop, if picture okay! the LCD panel display is defective and most be replaced. But if symptom is the same on both screens it indicates a bad Video Graphic Card normally built into the motherboard.

My laptop ( sony viao laptop) fell and now once turned on I have a black screen all lights and sounds are good. Could this be a led disconnect problem or a video card situation. What type of video card...

Unlikely to be a vga cable loose, but you can check by removing the switch panel cover and the screen to check it is still firmly housed.

test the laptop first in an external monitor, if you get an image, then the graphics chip is still ok

This then points to the screen, may appear undamaged, closer inspection with a torch, shone through the back of it will show any cracks you do not see straight away.

If the screen will not light up, fault is probably with a damaged backlight or inverter, you are then looking at a new (or 2nd hand) screen
